You have to go to Boston, to find out about the Crew. Columbus is considering adding former Revolution goalkeeper Jose Carlos (El Gato) Fernandez, who led Bolivar to a 3-1 win over Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores last week. Fernandez, who attended Florida International University and qualifies as a domestic player, is familiar with Crew assistant John Murphy, former goalkeeper coach of the Revolution. Columbus also is considering Vincent Enyeama, 21, a starter for Nigeria in the African Nations Cup who is playing for Enyimba FC. http://www.boston.com/sports/articles/2004/02/24/us_keepers_going_places/
Good post. Thanks. Apparently the Crew didn't fax this over to CrewBoy Craig so he wouldn't know. We get our news from out-of-town papers and some guy in York England.
Enyeama sounds like a good player. I'm glad to see we're going after a 21 year old, not a 31 year old. Who's this Fernandez guy? I've never heard of him. Was he New England's keeper pre-Adin Brown?

So the guy's been cut on three continents. Whoopie. He played in 7 games for NE, had a 1.87 GAA and went 0 - 3 - 2 and they cut him.
And he's 33 or 34 or so.... ...although GK's do age a little better.... I dunno....may work out or not...if the Crew take a flyer.
I wouldn't mind a look at the Nigerian. 21 and a starter for their Nats, who I think finished third in the ANC, seems like a good pedigree. I looked him up and it said he's the only player on the Nigerian Nats that plays for a Nigerian club. MLS could be a good fit for him as I think MLS has proven that they get good exposer to Europe and transfers for GKs in this league. That is, IF he can beat out Busch. However, the American GKs we have here are interesting as well. I definatly wouldn't give up an allocation for a GK.
