"In Chile, American goalkeeper Jonny Walker played well in what likely was his last league match for Colo Colo which came out on the short side of a 1-0 scoreline against Cobresal. Walker could not handle a point-bank shot by Fernando Rodriguez in the 11th minute. Walker made outstanding saves on Pedro Rivers in the 16th minute, Damian Yanez in the 37th, Rodrigo Vilingron in the 83rd and a point-blank blast from Quemarropa in the 90th." The Metrostars are considering Walker as a replacement for Howard. Why haven't the Rapids approached Walker? God knows we could use a decent Keeper http://www.soccertimes.com/americans/2003/may27.htm
Jonny Walker Red Obviously, as a Black and Blue team, the league will not let us have him. Only teams like NY, Chicago, or Dallas can have him. Then they can market him as "Jonny Walker Red"...... R
Re: Jonny Walker Red Ahem. Johnnie Walker Scotch blends come in four varieties: Red, Black, Gold and Blue (listed from cheapest to most expensive). Trust me, if someone ever offers you some Johnnie Blue, you take it. It's very hard to find, and extremely expensive (often $200 or more for a fifth). Oh yeah, and daaaamn tasty. Oh ************, is that my alcoholism talking? Anyway, if Jonny Walker (goalkeeper) were to be of the quality that would be an improvement over Garlick and Vallow -- an improvement which I don't think is necessary -- then just like Blue label, the Rapids probably wouldn't be able to afford him.
My first thought is that Johnny Walker actually plays for Universidad Catolica, not Colo Colo. And the Rapids need a coach more than anything else right now.
Actually that was last year. he returned to Chile after not coming to contract terms with any MLS clubs last spring and signed with Colo Colo. But you're right, a coach seems like a higher priority.
