Keane Replacement There's no question... we need a replacement for Keane. This is likely to be his last season with the team, certainly his last playing the majority of the games and we need to find someone for him to pass his mantle to. Who will that player be?
Re: Keane Replacement Johno: The Scholes/Keane combination needs to be replaced (maybe by next season). The question is who do we partner with Fletch? I would love if the answer was David Jones but that combination will not likely be ready until 2006-07 at the earliest. Maybe an experienced player to bridge the gap for a couple seasons. As good as Essien may be, he is not worth the price. If we want Essien then we have to hope that Chelsea buys someone else this summer and don't want him next summer.
Re: Keane Replacement I have my hopes on david jones .......every time i see the kid plays better and better, but he is still 2 years away IMO
Re: Keane Replacement I dont understand it. How people could just give a timeline when a player will develop. I say throw them right in the fire! It's not like our whole team will fall apart, we have quality in other areas as well. "He'll be ready in so and so years" Bollocks!!!
Re: Keane Replacement I was interupted by work... so the poll was a bit late coming, but its here!!! Vote away.
Re: Keane Replacement THAT, is NOT an option... it simply isn't... I dont even want to think about that.
Re: Keane Replacement I dont think there'll ever be someone like Keane again, EVER. You just cant imitate what he does for the club. We can only hope for someone similar.
Re: Keane Replacement That's why I'm hesitant to use the term "replacement". I prefer "successor"; someone who can takeover the basic role in his own style, but who isn't necessarily going to provide the same things as Keane.
Re: Keane Replacement fine... be that way and say SUCCESSOR if you want to, but like it or not, Keane replaced someone you know... and that someone replaced someone else... we've had a tradition of leaders from Keane's position and like it or not he wont likely be succeeded in the way Beckham was, he will be replaced - Keano is unique and special and there wont be another player just like him, but there wont be another just like Big Duncan, Robbo or Ince either.
Re: Keane Replacement It's more for lucidity I suppose. I know the position of a CM who runs the team will be replaced, but the man, the player, the legend Roy Keane won't be. That's sort of the point of a legend, I guess. Not to worry--we'll create another legend at that spot in no time.
Re: Keane Replacement I have a gut feelin' that Micheal Ballack is gonna be comin' our way soon, or has he signed a new contract with Bayern that I am unaware of?
Re: Keane Replacement That is very, very old news. I dunno if that site recycled it or what but that is 2or3 weeks out of date.
Re: Keane Replacement Superstars tend to do what they want unforunately, and Ballack is in that bracket of player..
