Y'all got a week to go through your closets and find all the VHS tapes of Wizards games and errata you've collected over the last nine years. I'm driving in for the game on May 1st, and I hope to leave with a box full of tapes. I have a smattering of games on tape from the last four seasons. Some good quality, many not. I do have a nice quality tape of the first game from the rebroadcast the day after (complete with 1 minute Weather Advisory after the 3rd goal). I'm burning Wizards games to DVDs because I have nothing better to do. If you're interested in helping out this project let me know. I'll see about putting together a web page listing every Wizard match and what outlet broadcast it. So even if you don't have tapes, but you do have an old Wizards schedule with the broadcast schedule on it, that would help.
dude. i may have to buy one or two of those match DVDs from you. The hurricaine home opener from a few years back and the 2000 LA home semi-final would be primo.
I wouldn't mind buying a copy either. I've got a lot of various Wizards stuff on tape (i.e. KC Kicks and Metrosports stuff), and a few games (I know I have the 2001 2nd playoff game at Miami.)
Here's the list of matches from the Wizards and MLS media guides: http://www.ibiblio.org/footy/wiz/ There are other exhibitions not listed --- I am -not- going to sell anything. I'm willing to -swap- tapes/games. If you want a game, you gotta give me a game. I appear to have 11 or 12 games on tape that I haven't burned to DVD yet. Most are from early 2000, a few from 2002 and 2003. Once again, I will not be doing any selling. This is an archival project - not a business project. If someone gives me a game on tape, I'll give you a copy on DVD in return. Considering the Wizards have played over 300 games in their 8+ years, this will not happen overnight.
I am very interested in the KC Kicks and MetroSports stuff. I was able to capture four of the early Wiz commercials (Frankie Klopas likes cheese!) on my tape from the first game. I'll be in Kansas City from Apr 29-May 1. Bring your tapes to the tailgate, and I'll take them home with me.
I have edited/condensed highlights and some commercials from all 9 seasons. One of the few complete games I have is Mo Johnston's first game. 6-4 v Bo Oshoniyi's CLB at Arrowhead - complete with post game MOM interview with the Scot. I would have an interest in both the LA/KC 2000 Game 3 and OT, and also the KC/SJ Game 2 of this past season as Ben lost his copy. I have roughly 70 tapes, so bringing them would be impractical. Feel free to PM me with any questions.
Why would it be impractical? All ya need is a coupla boxes. I expect to drive back home with a car packed with tapes!
Anybody know how to get them off of a Time Warner DVR Box, because I'd have quite a few from last season for you?
Digitally? No, but I'm sure someone might. Obviously, you could always burn VHS tapes of the games, but that should be a last resort.
This is what i do for a living, now. I wonder what kind of equiptment you are using? www.homemoviedepot.com
Hauppage PVR-350 http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_350.html Sony DRU-530A http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/dru530adwn.htm S-Video and audio inputs from the Satellite receiver into the the PVR, and co-ax cable into the PVR from the VCR - Which allows me to have the VCR dump a game to the computer while I watch something else on the TV. I'm burning the 2000 season opener right now. I've also updating the list with what I have on VHS and DVD. Anyone that wants to help with this effort is more than welcome. I figure around 200 games should be more or less easy. I suspect there are probably 30-50 games we may not be able to find - unless the team has copies, the other 50 or so will probably take some sleuthing.
Okay, I've still got no commitments. I'd like to try and - if possible - coordinate who's bringing what so we don't duplicate too much effort. I've updated the list indicating which games I've got on DVD, and which ones I have on tape. Right now I've got 12 on DVD and another 7 complete games on tape.
Bump. I'm heading out tomorrow. I'll try to be online, but no guarantees until Thursday evening. If you're planning on bringing any tapes to the game on Saturday, please let me know - and PLEASE PUT YOUR NAME ON YOUR TAPES so I can return them. Thanks!
I have second half and overtime of game 3 vs LA. I plan on converting it to digital before sending it your way since it seems to be the lone copy in existance, and my equiptment is a little better (pinnacle dvc1000 cards and a canopus a/v converter)
not that the first half is really that interseting But it does beg the question of whether or not you need my copy?
