Will have the jpegs (hopefully) tomorrow: but here are the pics for now. Sorry for the poor quality, the jpegs will be full high-res images (I believe). ATTENTION: PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU COMMENT ON WHAT THIS SET OF RENDERINGS DOES/DOES NOT SHOW IN THE STADIUM COMPLEX As you can see, they're just generic renderings... But still pretty cool.
It's like PHP...except with roofs, and no stage, and 13 more fields. But since PHP cost $65 mil, I'm guessing this thing will cost over $80 mil. Hopefully JC is at least ready to pay for half of it.
Like I said, these are generic renderings... NOT what the stadium in JoCo would actually be like (though I'm sure it would be similar in some ways).
that's a nice looking little stadium. I don't see any luxury boxes, but it looks like there's room to put them between the upper and lower decks. Good luck finding an investor and getting the place built.
One more time. These are generic renderings, meant to show what a stadium complex could look like. They were specifically produced for this occasion, but they do not represent any real decisions. For what it's worth, I think you're likely to see roofs over at least two stands in a KC park. Three is what I'll push for, for what that's worth. Further, this particular set of renderings does not encompass some of the features that are being heavily discussed and might make it in (which I can't mention at the moment), and some that are obviously going to be in, but weren't in the renderings (suites). There will almost certainly not be a built-in stage...The likely area for a stadium is less than 15 highway miles from KC's amphitheater.
Pretty much... but people were clamoring to see them. The real point is that the stadium project is very much in the works. Feasibility study is due to be finished by September 1.
I'm guessing if this thing goes through, it'll open in 2008. It'll be interesting where the Wizards play in between now and then.
roger that. I was happy last year to see DC's "stadium renderings," even though they were exactly the same as the renderings for NJ and Chicago. (and the new, real Bridgeview renderings look, of course, nothing like the ones they were shown)
even though it's just for show, i'm gonna make my comments on it as if it were the real plan. i love the two decks on all the sides with empty corners (basically empty). i really do hope the final product isn't the one large lower bowl sort of thing. the impression that i'm getting is that, if this complex gets built, it's not going to be half-ass, fill-the-void stuff. kc has something of a good history when it comes to developing quality sports venues - kemper and the truman sports complex were years ahead of its time. this city seems to have a hard time getting new things like this built, but when we do, we do it right.
Just waiting for some jackass to come in and say it has too many seats. (huh, now I guess I stole their thunder.)
Nice renderings. Kind of reminds me of the drawings we have seen so far for the new Colorado place, which are also pretty vague and useless. I can't wait to see the real drawings, just to see if they bear even the slightest similarity with what is actually built. These things must come on a disc marked "Generic Soccer Stadium Drawings".
And its not dug into the ground, and it doesn't have a luxury/press box structure on one side, and it has open endline sections and not enclosed ones, and PHP is specifically designed for future expansion at minimal cost, and.......there are more differences than there are similarities if you ask me.
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/12182651.htm I'm wondering, is this line a big deal? [Peter] Vermes said his association [Blue Valley Soccer Association] could be a ready investor for the construction of a youth complex, and thinks his fellow youth organizations around the county would follow suit.
LOL... sorry guys, I had a 3 megapixel digital camera with me... not exactly trying to get the best quality pictures either, since I knew I'd be getting the actual files here in the next day or so.
The Blue Valley Soccer Club has been pushing hard over the last year to acquire funds so that they can build thier own complex rather than relying on Heritage (sp) park. That may be what he is alluding to, that the club (as well as other clubs) may be willing to re-direct some of their complex funds into the "Wizards" complex. Just a guess, I could be way off.
Speaking of the BV Stars fund raising efforts, if anyone wants to buy a raffle ticket from one of my girls, let me know. The tickets are $15 each with the grand prive being $10,000, along with a handfull of lesser prizes (the smallest being $1,000). Who knows, your raffle ticket purchase might actually go towards helping with the new "Wizards" complex!
