KC faces the second team in a row that is coming off a nice win. There are accusations and denials of termoil in the Rapids locker room. Can KC keep up its great defensive record? Will Vuk (gotta love the name, despite the fact that we might not have needed another defender) be in town for the game?
Colorado added two quality SIs in the offseason. A look at their lineup sure looks scary: Cannon, Masteroni, Chung, Hendo, Puguero, Spencer. I'll take that core any day.
Can KC score? Someone, as I've been saying over and over, has to step up and be "the man". We're close, but close doesn't count in soccer. The defense is looking really good. Burciaga has been subbing in. If Garcia is healthy and Burciaga is healthy do they both start? In that case Zotinca would have to set. And then where does Vuk go?
I figure the lineup should be the same. Only change I see is if Garcia is out with injurty. It's time for Taylor to make an impact as well.

Bring a friend to BTRN II! Oh yeah, I won't be there. :(

with spencer sitting this one out, i like our chances of getting another shutout. he always finds a way to punish us. i said in another thread that i think we'll score two this week, and while i feel i may have spoken too soon, i'm gonna go ahead and stick with it. i'm gonna be bold and say 2-0 kc.

Even with Spencer out, we are really going to have to play well.

Chung likes to hurt us too since we traded him away.

We will really have to do a good job on set pieces defensively. de la Torre is great at free and corner kicks and is finding a way to hook up with the other newcomer, Puguero.

And Meolo better not take his eyes of the ball or de la Torre will chip him.

Can anyone score for us? We have come so close. But no one seems to know how to finish.

Another 0-0 or 1-0 finish. Like the Dallas game, the team that scores will win.

    KC Possible Lineup?

    Meola

    Zotinca - Thomas - Conrad - Rasovic

    Gutierrez - Zavagnin - Walsh - Klein

    Wolff - Arnaud

But I would rather see --

    Meola

    Rasovic - Thomas - Conrad - Burciaga

    Zotinca - Zavagnin - Klein - Gutierrez

    Wolff - Arnaud

No wonder we're not scoring, you have 7 defensive players out of 10! Unfortunately, I don't know how to fix it.

I don't always count Zotinca as a defensive player. He has shown better going forward and providing service than he has as a defender.

Zavagnin and Gutierrez are pretty much the same player to me. But Walsh hasn't really shown anything.

But in the interest of being offensive, how about:

    Meola
    Zotinca - Thomas - Conrad - Rasovic
Jewsbury [or Walsh] - Zavagnin - Klein - Stephenson
    Wolff - Arnaud

I don't expect Garcia to play. So, Burciaga might but he didn't seem to show much when he subbed in Dallas. Which is another reason Vuk might have been signed. I am wondering about Jr.B's future. We have seen him show the skills before. Maybe he just needs a full year of training under his belt and a chance to mature.

that is exactly what i have been thinking. i dont know about Kari, because i havent seen him play, but we need better attacking in the midfield.

My brother and I complained about the way columbus played, because they seriously had 7 defenders out there. we are in serious danger of the same thing happenening.

i say if deigo plays he needs to be wide. otherwise, we put out stephenson or some other offensive player.

    F@(&in' people.

Although the league and the club don't like it, I almost enjoyed last years playoff crowd more than a summer crowd of 17,000. So fack all of those to wimpy to show.

Anybody gonna have any extra free vouchers/tickets for the game? I've got at least one coming with me, maybe two. So I'd need three, and I just don't have easy access to a Price Chopper before Saturday.

Anyone heard how many tickets have been given away this year? Is it like last year when 40k+ were given away? Estimates on how many will show up?? I'll be making the trip from Des Moines. You should check the update on:

Looks like maybe more like high 50's or 60's. Thats not so bad if the wind stays relativley calm.

I was at Price Chopper yesterday, got myself some Ben & Jerry's ice cream and some tickets, the guy at the counter asked me "How many tickets do you want? You can have as many as you want, we have got tons left."

This was at the Price Chopper at 87th & Antioch in OP.

Personally I don't think this has been pushed as hard this year or it came too quickly into the season. As indicated the weather looks like crap.

Either way I'll be there with my entourage.

    Ha ha. I deserved that.

That would be my three daughters and three of their friends.

I expect my 16 year old to head the opposite direction of me and the Cauldron, as to be seen with step-Dad and those crazy Cauldron-ites would be too much. :D

I expect the other 4 will follow the teenager rather than me.

I dunno, your youngest seems very intent on paying attention whenever I see her. Either way, quite obviously there are big points for you in being a good Dad that will come home later.

    So...what, your PR guy isn't coming?!? :)

    In theory...

But in reality, those of us who always sit in the Cauldron may even have problems sitting in the Cauldron.
