http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/2008/0...comes_a_permanent_part_of_the_chiefs_uniform/ People in this forum have been pushing this idea for the Crew, sounds like a good idea to me.
I sent an email to McCullers in my "Official Capacity" as the VP of the Union asking that we follow the Chiefs' lead. Nothing wil come of it, but hey I tried.
Makes me think about possibly getting my first Crew jersey after following this club for 7 years now....well done Crew.
Sorry, not surprised that you were right, surprised that the club is actually gonna do it. And I haven't seen much out of Bill that wasn't to do with Balc in the last few weeks, so no, I haven't been paying that much attention to him.
Why? So there can be potentially three clubs running around with LH on their shirts? Why not just put an LH (and an AEG logo, while we're at it) on the league crest and be done with it. Or hell, let's just change the name of the league to the Hunt League. Let KC have the LH. We should be worried about getting out of the regular league season, and maybe a little deeper into - what do they call it - THE LAMAR HUNT US OPEN CUP? But perhaps we might be better served to just win the LAMAR HUNT PIONEER CUP and call it day. Seriously, Let KC have the LH.
I don't think you understand, my friend. There is a difference between Lamar Hunt, the man, and Antschutz Entertainment Goup or Hunt Sports Group. We're not putting AEG or HSG on our shirts because they own us. We're putting LH on our shirts because we meant something to Lamar Hunt and he means something to us. We're putting LH on our shirts to honor the man who personally paid for Columbus Crew Stadium and developed the concept of a soccer specific stadium for all of Major League Soccer to follow. You're right, we're not doing this because it will help us get to the playoffs. Rather, we're doing it because it's the right thing to do.
Who was it who told the story about Lamar standing in line just like a regular guy anytime he wanted a hot dog or pop? That story told what kind of man he was. And Foozer nailed it, LBY. We're honoring the man for what he did for us. Without him specifically, we don't have this team.
Re: KC Chiefs to wear Lamar Hunt tribute patch from now on Look, guys, I get it. I really do. But at some point you just have to say that enough is enough. I know we owe this team to Lamar Hunt, but there are a lot of other teams over the last 5 decades in this country that can make that claim, some still around, some not. We're talking soccer, pointyball, basketball, racing, hockey and a myriad other teams in other sports that we'll never know about. He loved sports and building leagues and clubs. What I'm saying is that it does no honor to his legacy to merely put his initials on a shirt in memorium and then go out and continue to p!ss down our leg all season. How about winning? Isn't that what he wanted in the first place? I say, IMHO, that no more than one team should have his initials on their shirts, and that it should be KC.
Easy there, Tweak. For what LH has accomplished for soccer in the states as a whole, and for specifically for Columbus, it is only proper to recognize him. If Anscheutz bit it, I'd feel the same way. It isn't as if putting LH on the jerseys is keeping the Crew from on-field accomplishments.
Re: KC Chiefs to wear Lamar Hunt tribute patch from now on The team that he sold and didnt want to build a stadium for? Yet the team he started here and built a stadium with his own personal money shouldn't honor him with his initials on the sleeve of their jersey?
Re: KC Chiefs to wear Lamar Hunt tribute patch from now on Let's be clear that it is the KC Chiefs (NFL) and not the KC Wiz (MLS) that is putting an LH on their shirts.
Re: KC Chiefs to wear Lamar Hunt tribute patch from now on Didn't the Crew already have LH on their shirts?
Re: KC Chiefs to wear Lamar Hunt tribute patch from now on Yes, but it was initially to be a single season thing, like the memorial when Fitz died.
