In the most recent Spurs matches, since KK has returned from being on loan, he hasn't even made the bench as a reserve. Any Spurs officianados have any inside scoop on his future there? Has he been playing for the reserves at least? Is he certainly going to go during the transfer window? That really is my only theory. It can't be that he is third choice behind Fullop?!?

I thought his fate at Tottenham was pretty much sealed when they loaned him out to Southampton. I am not sure that many teams would loan out their top backup keeper.

If the price is right, many teams will loan out anyone who isn't featuring regularly. Especially for clubs that don't have Europe games (CL, UEFA cup) to keep their squad depth up. But you're right, I think it does say somethig about his value to the club.

That's a good point. I think it is a bit diminished in that it was only for a month. It's less likely that during a month that Ronbinson will go out iwht unkury. But I'd think with all the money at stake for finishing just a position higher, why take even that risk if you don't think Keller's your #2 anymore?

I'd like to see Kasey stay in Europe for as long as he's capable of playing and for as long as he and his family are happy. I'm still wondering if the latter won't cause him ot move back to the states sooner than later.

Those are some big IFs. I'd throw Keller to Saints in the mix too. Only IF Saints sell Niemi. That's a big if. I would say they would be willing to do it if the money was very good and they thought the GK they were buying was good enough for the relegation fight. I don't think Saints want to turn to Smith or Blaney in a relagation fight, not right now. And because of relegation fights, both Saints and Rovers strike me as likely to want to hold onto their GKs. I'd expect them to turn to mixing things up with outfield players to get that extra spark before they mess with who they've got in nets. That is, unless someone with enough money is wanting Friedel or Niemi. Then they may see that money as helping them with their outfield situation.

We're less than a week from the beginning of the transfer period. Sometimes all it takes is one team for an avalanche to commence.

I notice there's not mention of Keller on the roster on the Spurs' site. He's still listed on 4thegame. Maybe it was removed when he was loaned out to Southampon and they're late putting it back up?

I think this is exactly right. 10 mill or so for Beattie, maybe a couple of mill for Niemi if they can sell him to a big club, they get keller (who is certainly solid enough for a relegation battle -- he certainly won't cost them) on the cheap and 12 mill to buy players.

Yeah I noticed this a while ago.
As soon as the transfer to Southampton was made, they removed him from their roster (odd if you ask me as he's still their player)... and have yet to put him back.

Most chalked this up to the webmasters being slow.
I personally think it's part of a larger issue where Keller isn't on their minds. Not that they are trying to slight him, just that it's not a big deal if he's included or not.

10m for Beattie? Only if you're measuring in dollars. :)

Possibly... but how long does it take to replace a weblink? 30 seconds?
It was a 1 month loan to Southampton - so I'd be suprised if the link was more than commented out. But webpages 101 aside, he's been back for 4 weeks now... and there hasn't been that much trade talk.

    Edited to add...
Keller's bio is still available on the Spurs site. Keller's Bio
Interestingly - it is the bio that would have been on the Southampton website... since it mentions the injury to Niemi and that he was signed for a month's loan.

They dropped the names of several players on loan like Johnnie Jackson, Dean Marney, and Robert Burch, so it seems like their method to consider them gone while on loan (though 2 reserves are listed as "on loan"-Hughes and Barnard). But Keller's been back 3 weeks now so I do think it's possible thismay be a sign that either he's gone or he won't be making the bench this spring.

Keller will not be receiving checks from Spurs on February 1st...that much is obvious.

Will he get another EPL shot?

Will he take a year off from soccer and lobby for a Seattle MLS franchise on MLS's payroll?

Will he play in MLS this year?

There are lots of questions but no answers at all so far. I don't know that we'll get any answers until Arsenal & ManUtd figure out their goalkeeping situations either.

I think you can rule out taking a year off from soccer and lobbying for a Seattle franchise. If he takes a year off... you can kiss his national team chances good bye... and would have to think his serious days are behind him.

But then who'd play for the national team? Friedel seems retired and Howard might be taking the year off too!

I thought his contract ran through this summer. Wouldn't it be guaranteed if Keller wanted to stay (not that he does)?
