I guess it would be similar for anyone who observes a foreign language, but the written Arabic (which I assume the first post was written in) looks especially complicated and difficult

 

I heard that arabic, farsi, and hebrew are written from right to left instead of left to right. I wonder how that came to be

 

Well we used to write top to bottom, right to left. Got the system off the Chinese.

 

Nah as a writing system, arabic script is one of the easiest. It's strictly phonetic, i.e. we right exactly as we pronounce. The only thing that might be tricky for someone who's not fluent, is the fact that in most general use, people omit to write the ligatures (tashkil), which represent short vowels, for brevity.

The language that really gets me confused is Chinese. Way too complicated for me.
