According to that article on the LDA website, both Kante's have arrived with the team in Costa Rica. Seems any lingering doubt about signing them both should be put to rest. Anything official? Also, any stats available on Ibrahim?
"Seems any lingering doubt about signing them both should be put to rest." Don't count your chickens before they're hatched. As for Ibrahim Kante? Name: Ibrahim Kante Position: Midfield/Forward Current Club: New England Revolution (trialist) Previous club(s):Chesapeake Athletic Dragons (USL's Premier Development League), Community College of Baltimore - Essex (Baltimore, MD) Also known more sasually as "Abe", Kante had 12 goals and 10 assists through the end of last October for CCBC-Essex. Competed for Community College of Baltimore County - Essex (CCBC-Essex) in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Named to the First-Team of the 2002 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division 1 Soccer All America Team. First-Team of the 2002 Maryland Junior College All-Conference Team. CCBC-Essex was ranked in the top ten nationally (NJCAA) this past season.
Wasn't funny the first time. Still isn't funny. Consider this. When you say something stupid and everyone ignores you, it's a gift. Take it.
What makes you an even bigger a$$clown is that your glaring lack of the ability to even spell the name of the miniseries - ROOTS - correctly
By the way, guys. I changed it this time. Last time I said the author was Bill Hailey, and corrrectly called the book "Roots." Next time I'll try another variation. I'm sorry you don't appreciate the humor, but I've received thousands of e-mails telling me how clever I was.
This is likely a strange post, and at least half off-topic, but I remember a NY Times story about 5 years ago about two Nigerian U-17 players who jumped ship at an international youth tournament in Atlanta, moved in with relatives in the new york area and spent the next few years trying to catch on in America. They had a huge host of problems, were living in shelters for a while in NY and Phila, ended up at community colleges. The name 'Ibrahim Kante' sounds familiar; I'm wondering (long-shot, I know) if that's him, or if anyone else remembers this story. It really was a fantastic piece: I remember it 8 years later.
Yeah, like all the people here who are alleged Revs fans who know how to spell Steve Nicol's name correctly. And I wouldn't say it was "racist" to make a bad pun on someone's name. No more racist than saying that making fun of Digital Takiwira's bad haircut is racist when you also make fun of Alexi Lalas. Lighten up folks! Tom
Let's see Asking if our players are related to slave characters Nope That's just fine I guess Sorry I let something so disgusting bother me Making fun of haircuts is the apple to this threads orange Tom. They aren't even in the same ball park
Ok, it was a bad pun, but it's kind of a stretch to call it racist. If you think it is, though, there's a thread going on about the Revs broadcasting team, and some of those "racists" are asking whether the Revs new announcer is related to Pat Noonan. You'd better get in there and set them straight...
I think this is one of those situations in which the interpretation of the comment depends entirely on what you assume about the speaker. George and Maynard are right in the sense that one could read JohnnyRev's joke as being nasty and derisive if one started with the assumption that he is racist. Because it could easily be misinterpreted, it is at least insensitive. Reverend attempts to defend JohnnyRev, but offers the perfect contrast to illustrate why (his own) innocent comment is different from Johnnyrev's suspect one. Most of us would assume JohnnyRev is a good guy - not racist - simply because he is a Rev fan. What more proof of his reasonableness could you ask for? There is also the fact that he has never previously been labeled as biased on this board. The point is that there are some subjects that are best left alone, as gotyourback said, at least by people outside the community associated with the subject.
Guys, let's let this go and get back to discussion of the topic. Ibrahim Kante seems like an intriguing player. I'd love to see some hard and fast stats on the guy, but it sounds like he was one of the top JUCO players in the country last year, having shown an ability to both score and provide service and a pretty effective rate. As has been reported by Revsnet, he has not looked out of place in those Revolution training sessions he's particpated in. No matter my feelings about the Rev's CONCACAF Champions Cup plans, I'd very much like to see Ibrahim get some playing time in those matches against LDA. The Magpie
any word on if Dauda K is to be penciled in a s a starter? give that I think i read somewhere here he was a bit out of shape and uprepared for camp, and with this contract hold out, he may be getting a head fulll of agent talk, anybody have any updates? i hope he gets his sh&t together, he really saved the last half of the season...
I'm with George, it's pretty offensive IMO. Asking if a "Kante" is related to a "Kinte" is along the lines of "they all look alike". If it's all in good humor, try asking Ibrahim or Daoda at one of the "Meet the Revs" events! Let us know if they laugh.
Tim You are smarter than that and you and I both know it. What they are asking on the broadcast thread isn't even close to what was started here Now back to business Can Kante the younger really help us out or was this a TFIII like deal to get Kante the elder to stay ?
