The big news is that only 532 of that 6532 season ticket holders showed up at game last night. Not bad at all.
So are KC fans getting into the game at $5 a pop? Are these bad seats, or are there restrictions on who gets them or how many $5 tickets are sold?
No, not all fans are getting in at $5 a pop. Lots of people pay lots of different prices. All GA (including the Cauldron) are $12, unless you have season tickets that started over two years ago when the tickets were $10. The Wizards let you keep your renew your seats at the cost you started at. Sideline seats are $16 this season, same scenario for seasont tickets and renewed season tickets. The $5 tickets are for the Zards. Any kid 15 and under can sign up to be a 'Zard'. Then that child and their "family" also get $5 GA tickets for any game.
Well, I'm not sure of KC demographics, but I'd think that there would be a lot of families who have at least one sub-15 year old in the group. I'm all for getting in as many fans to the game, but was thinking maybe they could limit the the Zard card deal a bit. Then again, if this is a long-term strategy, maybe the Wizards are counting on getting these 10-15 year old kids attached to the team before they turn 15 and have to pay full price.
This is not the final number for this year. "The organization . . . will continue to offer season ticket packages through Saturday, June 7th, the final day in which the League calculates season tickets."
