Don't have huge high hopes for this one. San Diego looks good, and basically just toyed with St. Louis after going ahead last week. One hope, maybe they have an eye towards Toluca and CCC play midweek next week... Also good news/bad news. Wicky says Ian James will be out tomorrow. He didn't train in both open sessions today. Lasse Berg Johnsen is on his way back with his visa and lands tonight. Says its questionable for him, but they need to value the mid and long term. #SportingKC— Daniel Sperry (@sperrydaniel94) March 6, 2026
Harris on the left, I think. Apple unfairly popped the result up on my screen for a moment, before resetting to my hide scores setting. So I watched until they scored then fast watched the rest. My overall thoughts were: Meh. I do think that, consistently, Miller looks like a better defender than Meyer, though I'm not sure either of them is starting quality in MLS. Bartlett really needs some time with SKC to hone his game. He does some thing well enough, but he makes so many mistakes. The announcer once criticized Manu for not covering properly on the defensive end. No shit. that is not who he is. He is out there, and back there, to be on the ball, help us possess and advance. Manu's defense is kind of crap for a 6. Which means the other guy, in this case Bartlett, is out there to take care of the ball winning and defensive side of things. But he doesn't play that role, meaning WTF is he starting.. I do like Shapi and Davis on the right, but i'm hoping not to see it again. I like Manu having more of the ball, but he's a much better 10, and we do lack that last pass when he's further back. I'm hoping to see Larsen and Davis in those 6-ish roles, with Manu higher upfield, Shapi wide. Really, add Capita to that line with Jovelic up top and hold back Harris and Afrifa as late game speed, and that's not a bad setup. Defensively, Blorian can't arrive soon enough. Someone to take charge of the back is really needed. At LAG next, then back home with Colorado. So, first 5 over under is at 2 pts.Anyone taking the over?
Actually the attacker on the left that gave frustrations very well coulda been Reid. He's fine defensively, but attacking from the LB position is not a skill he's very good at. As for LA next week, they won't have Pec and it's sandwiched between their CCC games midweek this coming week and next.
Not going to say I happy with a loss, they never feel good, but there is something to this team. Keeping the current 'hot' team in the west to one goal is a positive. I think the team sees some potential in themselves and Wicky continues to impress with his post game comments. Also the ref sucked, surprise, surprise.
