No rest for the weary. With 3 days rest and a thin bench, SKC goes into Allianz Field to face the Loons. Both teams coming into the game with a winning streak, Loons with 3 and SKC with 1. Zusi and Ford are both questionable for the match so we don’t know what to expect for a line-up if PV is going to do some rotation. As a lot of articles about the Montreal match explained, SKC can’t generate any sort of repeatable type goals, so unless there are more fluky golazos and the defense stays lucky, the Loons will have their forth win in a row.
OK, PV is putting it out there. Shelton on the bench and Tzionis the lone striker in a 4-1-4-1. Everybody has been asking for it, so now we will see how it works. JFR also gets a rest with Duke on the wing.
First half is the best advertisement for Shelton to never play another game for SKC. Put JFR in for Duke and that front three is good. Not a knock on Duke, he's just better in the midfield.
is this how skc could've looked like all season? who knows whether we would've had more points, but this is definitely way more entertaining to watch.
Right! For all the false 9 talk that gets thrown around, Salloi actually plays that style quite effectively. And Tszonis needs to play a lot more.
Actually didn't have any problems with Shelton's play today, which is apparently heresy. Really, I liked the fight from everybody in the game. Our backline keeps getting carved apart from runs out of the midfield, but mostly the press was effective.
My only issue was how easy he was going down at times, or stopped fighting b/c he thought he was fouled. I get he's frustrated that he's not getting them when he tries to fight through it, but he looks worse when he just stops or flops.
Wasn't his play so much as how the overall attack changed when he came in. Fluidity of play was gone, passing combos gone, etc.
Agreed, when he came on he "sat" centrally more there wasn't near as much movement along the front 3 like there was before he entered.
Yeah, definitely not saying he was great. But definitely have seen far more than enough hot takes floating around the internet this evening claiming he was the reason SKC drew instead of won. Anyways. Pierre and Ndenbe are both pretty raw and a bit wild in their positioning... But if Sporting can keep them and keep playing them and survive the bumps in the road their inexperience will probably cause? They really have the capacity to be the best pair of fullbacks KC has ever fielded. I really like their composure, their mentality, their physicality, their pace, and their ball skills. All they need now is continued experience and training. I honestly don't think I've been this impressed by a young player in this squad since, oh, Salloi?
