Kanoute is our only target forward. If he leaves, we must replace him with another target forward, it's absolutely essential. Kanoute is, and has usually been, a very productive goal scorer. Wealthy teams rarely give up those types of players. I think we could, and we definitely should, get top dollar for him, at least 7 million pounds, probably more. His strike rate is excellent, he's tall, fast, skillful on the ball, and creates a bit as well. His attitude seems to have been fine at Tottenham, so teams only real concern should be his health ... but that's a big concern. If he leaves we need someone who can play that role, and I'm not sure Postiga can do that. Keane is the closest we've got. Defoe certainly cannot do it. I wonder if Santini has any ideas about who that would be? -Digital
The club would need to replace him, but Kanoute's form since he got back from Mali was very poor, not a single goal. The club does need a target forward, but Kanoute can be removed if Santini and Frank know someone better and value for money.

Sidney Govou is only just over 5'7" in height as far as I'm aware. I've seen him play a few times, he does have good power and athleticism to him and a fair amount of pace, but I don't see him as a target striker. I don't see much in this link, unless the club sells Postiga as well. Kanoute must be a bit gutted that Santini is in charge. It was Santini who sold him from Lyon to West Ham and wouldn't cap him for France.
Govou is not a target foward. But I was never a fan of Kanoute. If Helder really shines in this tournament, can we see him playing up front with Defoe and Keano in a support striker role?
Postiga doesn't have size either does he. I think we need a physical presence up front that can win balls in the box. I'd still like to see Kanoute get a chance, but if he doesn't we need to replace him with someone of like size.
This was rumoured to be Arnesen's idea for the team next season. A form of 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 with Keane as a left wing-forward and either Defoe or Postiga as a right wing-forward. I think Wiltord will be signed and will play either as the front striker or the right wing-forward. I would like this.
really? i don't like wiltord. i'd prefer to keep kanoute as a striker, and simon davies on the right.
I don't like Wiltord although Santini seriously likes the player. I think we should sell Kanoute and get another target forward. We have three good strikers in Keane, Defoe and Postiga. The reasons for selling Kanoute are simple. 1) His willingness to play for Mali in African Nations and desert Spurs in their hour of need last season. 2) His form once returning from Africa last season was terrible. 3) He will be missing for first two months of season playing for Mali in Olympics.
