A bigger win means holding the Senate and retaking the House are more doable.

(I know YOU know that, I'm just pointing out why it might matter).

It is not though. Over the last 4 years the GOP has done an amazing job at questioning election integrity and giving more freedom to state electors to not do their job and question the election results and not having an obligation to certify the results. Georgia is a great example.

The defeat has to be loud and clear where there are no questions or you better believe there won't be just crying about it. 2020 was the dress rehearsal.

Trump is not campaigning. Trump is claiming people won't need to vote in 4 years. Trump said, "I don't need votes". Kamala drawing huge crowds while he is playing golf, sending JD Vance to meet up with 200 people in a police station's parking lot.

Trump isn't preparing to win an election. He's preparing to steal an election.

Donald Trump: The world has gone to s*** in the last 2 weeks! ... the stock market is CRASHING! Unemployment is RISING! Wars in the Middle East are spiraling OUT OF CONTROL!... all while Kamala is asleep at the switch.

JD Vance: Sometimes you’ve got to take the good with the bad. And right now, I’m angry about what Kamala Harris has done to this country and done to the American southern border.

Man, the MAGAs are embuing the office of vice president with powers I didn't know it had. Who knew it was so relevant.

They may start retroactively blaming COVID on Mike Pence.

And here goes Trump again trying to control and intimidate by changing the debate that he agreed to.
Please don’t let Kamala’s team fall for this crap. Stick to the time and date, if The Orange coward doesn’t show up, then hold a town hall and make the most of it.

Apparently the time slot is booked, so she would be able to do just that.

The network would be happy either way. Trump being shown as a lying buffoon, or Trump as Donald Duck

All it shows is that they know how to use the Replace text feature in Word. Swap "Sleepy Joe" with "Kamabla" in every talking point. Done.

Still amounts to more work than what Trump does most days. No wonder he complained about having to start all over.

Yup, the defeat of Trump has to be so thorough that even if his cheating mechanisms do work in a couple of states it wont matter cause other places will have picked up the slack…
As it stands I get that its probably still stupidly close and that swing states will be big as ever.. but maybe just maybe there is a timeline where he is overwhelmingly beaten

The victory needs to be clear enough that media sources call the race. Recall, in 2020, there were huge numbers of absentee ballots submitted due to Covid. And because those strongly trended Dem and absentee ballots are counted after Election Day ballots are tallied, it was accurately predicted that the early vote counts would lean GOP, with later counted ballots heavily favoring Democrats.

That won’t happen this year. If ballots are counted as they normally would be, more states will be called election night. And that’ll lead to the AP and major media outlets calling the race if their analysis warrants it. Trump whined in 2020 that the media don’t declare the winner. True, technically. But not really. If the media declare Harris the next president, it’s very close to being a done deal.

True. But as of right now, Trump can still very much win (legitimately). Its still basically 50/50. So, first step is hoping Harris wins. Even if its by a little we will be in a better place than right now when its totally up in the air.

What about “clear enough” didn’t I make clear enough?

Biden’s victory was clear enough by Saturday that the race was called. It was a comfortable EC victory.

    what wasnt clear enough?

All the lawsuits questioning the election, the fact that some would be presided over by Trump appointed judges and we werent sure if they were loyal to the rule of law or Trump

the fact that Trump didnt concede and was refusing to allow security briefings for Biden

the fact that Mike Pence having an iota of integrity is the only reason the fake electors scheme didnt come to fruition unleashing pure chaos with the Dems having absolutely no plan for dislodging the GOP fanatics in government.

You can say Biden won clearly and “without question”, we know that… But lots of folks with influence and power refused to accept it (to this day).. and their lunacy has convinced millions of the same. So no it wasnt clear it is questioned and contested to this day

    It's 2024, not 2020.

You do realize, I assume, that the Biden administration will be in charge during the transition, not Trump. Trump benefited dramatically from controlling the executive branch, including the DOJ/attorney general four years ago during that period. He had all of the resources of the executive branch at his disposal, including the president's bully pulpit. That dynamic won't exist in 2024. The the race is called by media outlets and is a clear Harris victory this November, Trump will be wailing at Mara-a-lago, not the White House.

By the way, are you familiar with the provisions of the Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act of 2022? It's certainly not a silver bullet, but it did make a lot less likely some of the bullshit that happened in 2020, such as the VP's role in certifying electoral votes. Of course, that person will be Kamala Harris in 2024 (well, Jan. 2025).

I think the problem he's talking about is more Republicans not certifying the results at local levels. The Bulwark has been writing about. Today they posted a summary of a Rolling Stone article.

    https://www.thebulwark.com/p/republicans-will-refuse-certify-harris-election

No need to worry about mayhem on January 6, 2025 when Congress meets in joint session; the election deniers plan to stop a result right away if it looks like Harris is winning. Their goal: Refuse to certify anywhere—even a county that Trump won—and prevent certification in that state, which prevents certification of the presidential election.

A Harris victory could become a nightmare.

An investigation by Rolling Stone identified “in the swing states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania . . . at least 70 pro-Trump election conspiracists currently working as county election officials who have questioned the validity of elections or delayed or refused to certify results.” Of those 70, 22 of them already have “refused or delayed certification” in recent past elections. Nationwide, Republicans have refused to certify results at least 25 times since 2020, in eight states—the most in Georgia.
The article describes social media posts from the zealots who have infiltrated election administration as showing “unapologetic belief in Trump’s election lies, support for political violence, themes of Christian nationalism, and controversial race-based views.”

There are more than enough such individuals in these key posts to bring us to a constitutional crisis.

“I think we are going to see mass refusals to certify the election” in November, Democratic election lawyer Marc Elias told Rolling Stone. “Everything we are seeing about this election is that the other side is more organized, more ruthless, and more prepared.”

    Sit with that.

Then there is this. Trump’s self-destructive attacks on Georgia’s popular governor made the headlines from his Atlanta rally last Saturday, but he also singled out for praise three little-known Georgians—Janice Johnston, Rick Jeffares, and Janelle King—calling them “pitbulls fighting for honesty, transparency, and victory.”

Who are Johnston, Jeffares, and King? They are three of the five members of Georgia’s State Election Board. Three days after Trump’s speech, this past Tuesday, those three Republicans approved a new rule requiring a “reasonable inquiry” prior to election certification that—while vague and undefined—could be exploited to delay certification and threaten the statewide election certification deadline of November 22.

The Republicans have plenty of opportunities to create chaos, and here's one I haven't really thought of.
