And you should smoke some. While I do feel something more akin to pity than hate for those who don’t see what Trump is, I feel nothing but contempt for those who DO see, and either don’t care or actually like it. This is something that goes beyond mere “disagreement.”
I listen to a couple of podcasts of some people that backed Trump. Inflation was their big thing (and cancel culture). They seem to think Trump is going to bring prices down to 2019 levels somehow. Unfortunately for Democrats, people hate inflation and how fast prices rose in 2021 pissed off a lot of people and they wanted to take it out on somebody. Funny enough to the right wing Brazilians that just showed up, high inflation is also one of the main things that helped Lula beat the Tropical Trump a few years ago. Bolzonaro had nothing to do with the global inflation, but was still blamed for it.
Fake, I remember one with firing workers with Obama stickers because of taxes. These type memes make the rounds.
The timing on this is probably almost assuredly fake…. but it doesnt mean it cant/wont happen. BUT By all means peek into the Leopards ate my face reddit.. some folks are already having moments of “clarity” https://www.reddit.com/r/LeopardsAteMyFace/s/MpmfqtyCUz Me, I just wait to see if im part of the roundup.. in the meantime I will just prep my new favorite sticker
Looking at Illinois. Harris won by 8.5 points, Biden won in 2020 by 16.9. What counties have the biggest shifts towards Trump. Cook county (Chicago) and a few of the suburban counties. Biden won 74% in cook county, Harris is around 69% with around 6 percent still not counted. Biden won 1.725 million votes in cook, Harris is right now at 1.290 Million votes. Even if she gets 100% of all the votes still not counted, she will be below 1.5 Million. Trump in 2020 got 558K votes in cook county, Trump is at 556K right now, so he is going to do a little better, but not much. So the story is that 250-400K people in Chicago/Cook that voted for Biden in 2020, did not show up for Harris. The whole state Trump got 2.44 Million in 2020, he is at 2.39 Million right now, so he is probably going to do a little better. Biden got 3.47 Million in 2020, Harris is at 2.84 milling right now. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-elections/illinois-president-results https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_United_States_presidential_election_in_Illinois
like Biden’s EV tariffs? We will see. Also, that’s not true given how much I pay in taxes and how few consumer goods I purchase. I also notice you didn’t respond to my other defined benefits of Trump winning so I assume you don’t dispute that those are legitimate advantages from a conservative viewpoint.
I wonder if these people counting down the days until the Trump genocide/concentration camps are packing their bags and readying their asylum claims? or mass-mobilizing to create an armed resistance like the Free French? are they putting their money where their mouth is? Or do they not actually believe that fascism is upon us?
In 2016 he wasn't ever a politician and I didn't vote for him. I voted for Governor Gary Johnson who got almost 5 million votes but a candidate with that following didn't run in 2020. Trump also expanded his movement of America first and there was a some independents moving over because of lock downs in some states that went to far. It's hard to believe so many voters didn't show up this time.
You seem to be good at providing nuanced analysis when it suits you. I'd explain Kamala's low turnout with data (as it pertains to implied cheating), but every time people on your side are presented with facts, you seem to disappear.
I think my premise is correct. Lockdown election in 2020 turned out voters who almost never vote, and they voted anti-incumbent. The big “shift” we are seeing is that those people went back to not voting, and the % of voters who just vote against the incumbent did their thing. Trump’s base > Dem base. There was no great realignment, aside from “Latino” men. (I want to make clear that I am not scape-goating them. White people elected Trump.) In very low turnout elections, Dems won in the last few years just like NRA used to motivate people to turn out in non-presidential elections.
