I am 45 and my mom is older. Plus I have the wives and kids. I am stuck, unless Canada considers accepting me and I doubt that.
I'm sorry mate. I'm fortunate that my mom is in very good health even though she is 84 as well, plus she is willing to move back to France so she can be near her sister. I'm 59 for the record. That's the situation for many of my colleagues as well. One is a Hispanic lesbian sociologist who is currently our DEI director. She's taking care of her parents. I mentioned to her partner (another professor who also used to be my student) that one of her siblings needs to step up, because she won't do them any good once she is deported (if she is lucky, because the alternative will be much worse).
Canada isn't going to accept lots of POCs, and neither is anyone else. Europe doesn't want any more POCs. Central and South America don't want any more melanin than they already feel cursed with.
So much for garbage Island hurting Trump. A massive shift in the Florida Puerto Rican vote -- toward Trump. While Harris won the demographic 52-43 per exits, Biden won the same group 69%-31% in 2020. So went from Dem +38 to Dem +9.— Philip Klein (@philipaklein) November 6, 2024
From Frank Luntz: Kamala Harris lost this election when she pivoted to focus almost exclusively on attacking Donald Trump. Voters already know everything there is about Trump – but they still wanted to know more about Harris’ plans for the first hour, first day, first month and first year of her administration. It was a colossal failure for her campaign to shine the spotlight on Trump more than on Harris’ own ideas. It might not have been enough, but Latino males probably wouldn't have swung to Trump by 18% either and she'd have had a shot.
No, they never cared about that. It was simply the excuse they were giving so they wouldn't have to admit it out loud that there was no way in hell they were going to vote for her.
Well the only thing to look forward to is the slow realization from his many supporters that living in an authoritarian state isn't fun, not just for the people you don't like, but for most people, unless you are in the dictator's immediate inner circle (and even then it can feel like being stuck in a shark tank). I hope they enjoy what they voted for. Too bad so many minorities and vulnerable people will be made to suffer alongside them.
Why even bother to come to Europe? We possibly have a next great war over here starting 5 to 10 years from now.
What baffles me is Florida. I mean they are getting slammed by climate left and right but decided to not care at all to save their life and money.
Not sure this will happen at all. You will see less free press and a lot of lies from the government. If the situation worsens there are a lot of other scapegoats to put the finger at before the people realize it's their own fault.
Depends on how quickly the obliteration of institutions happens. We are supposed to believe that unlike eight years ago, they are ready to install their own sycophants in all key positions.
An optimist. The war has already started, I'm guessing you are talking about how soon it will spill over in a country not named Ukraine. I suppose that depends on how quickly Mango Shit Gibbon can signal to Vova that he won't intervene if he invades Poland or the Baltics.
Agreed. I worry about this across Europe. If you don't have sane centre right parties as gate keepers, this is what happens.
