Is this where I get on my soapbox about how bomb threats are bullshit? If someone's going to bomb a place, they aren't going to tell anyone.
In modern America. There are tens of thousands of bomb threats every year and none of them are real. Making a phone call is easy. Making a bomb is not.
You are not wrong. I've seen enough: Dixville, NH ties 3-3 for Harris/Trump, a massive swing right from Biden's 5-0 margin over Trump in 2020. But voters are also eager to split their tickets: Kelly Ayotte (R) carries Dixville 5-1 for #NHGOV, and Maggie Goodlander (D) takes it 4-2 for #NH02.— Dave Wasserman (@Redistrict) November 5, 2024
According this, it was 5. https://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/at...oday-live-updates/6GUBCG2YOBFJRCXXYTXPEBBOOY/
That's simplistic. It may be true most of the time, but not always. Bomb threats are classified by level, and experts are trained to evaluate the level of validity of a bomb thread.
Well yes and no. Later this month will be the 50th anniversary of the Birmingham pub bombings. The IRA’s “warning” was that two bombs were going to go off “in the city center”. Two pubs were bombed less than 10 minutes later killing 21 people. There are plenty of other examples of imprecise warnings that practically speaking weren’t really warnings at all.
And the level of validity of a bomb threat here is inevitably zero, but we'll panic and shut things down every time nonetheless, giving the terroristic threatmakers power that they shouldn't have. We have hundreds of millions of guns - no one's taking the time to build a bomb and then telling people "uh hey there's a bomb, better defuse it in time!"
Anyway, my in-laws have been waiting in line to vote for 3 hours in Andy Kim's district. They've never waited in line for even 5 minutes before. Read into that how you'd like.
Circling the island of St Kitts and about 90 seconds from landing. I will be at an outdoor bar, watching results with a drink in hand all night. Let's go!!!
I have gluten free beer for earlier in the day and Crémant de Bordeaux for the evening to get me through this.
Or. . . They’ll phone in the bomb threat, and do a drive by shooting spree on everyone milling around outside. This is America. Not many people can make a bomb, let alone break in someplace to hide it. But any psychopath can buy a gun.
Landed. Now, people, vote in a way that makes me feel like I have a real choice about returning to the US!
If you are counting on Americans to do the right thing, you are much more an optimist than I. Enjoy the island vibe, even if the reason for being there isn't pleasant.
I cleared my entire election day schedule weeks ago, though I do still have a random (but short) meeting this afternoon. Other than that, it's just stress and maybe some laundry.
There is no reason for optimism. Knave told me as such. Also, MAGA have the regular gay guy vote cornered. DOOM!
Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says the state is "on track to to break turnout records" today."Michiganders are already voting in record numbers.""We've seen 3.3 million citizens vote before 7 a.m. today even hit."
PELOSI: "Hakeem Jeffries will be the speaker of the House. I don't know what the margin will be, but I know that we have the votes to win the House." Pelosi knows how to count.....that I know!!
Agreed with Sounders - enjoy the warmth of the island, even if the reason is not so great. But be prepared to return...if you want.
Yeah, but in this context, the pupose of a bomb threat is to create chaos. People have to react, because if they don't and it is the one time more than a threat...
Some of the blue cities and counties are on track to break records today. At noon the approximate count in Philly is 586k. The 2020 vote total was 750k. So yeah, we’re on track for a massive turnout. Hearing the same about Gwinnett county outside Atlanta.
Do we think this is good or bad? Isn't the greatest feat that a bunch of Trump voters emerge out of the ground that no one accounted for?
