My day today: Eat breakfast Grade papers Workout Shower Lunch Go for a walk Work meeting (via Zoom) Go for a walk Dinner White knuckle it for the rest of the evening
Working from home - light meeting load, everyone seems to be aware of what day it is and has left it clear. Lots of dark humor in the office yesterday, at the thought of RFK Jr being in charge of public health. Driving my somewhat unengaged wife to the high school to vote, some time middle of the day when it's hopefully quiet. I already voted by mail. Working out later to take my mind off it and probably biting my nails down to nothing this evening.
Our granddaughter has the day off from school, so we are taking her to the zoo. Orange primates everywhere I turn.
I like the news from Philadelphia...... “Voter turnout is extremely high,” said Philadelphia Democratic Party Chairman Robert Brady, the former congressman. “I’ve been doing elections for 50 years chair and I’ve been chairman for 40 years and right now it’s the highest we’ve ever seen for this point in time. A high turnout is great for us.” Brady was sitting in party headquarters in the West Ward this morning as ward leaders called in or came in and gave him the news. “They’re wrapped around the building everywhere over here in African American neighborhoods.”
I'm going for my daily 10km run so i can slip into exhaustion following an actual work day of data and dev
We have to choose leaders who embody the values we seek to pass onto our children. We can’t forget that the words our leaders utter have a real impact on them – those words can build them up, or they can tear them down.So please, please vote for a better future for our kids.… pic.twitter.com/hEOrWKUfcz— Michelle Obama (@MichelleObama) November 5, 2024
Happy Guy Fawkes Day everyone! Nothing like having someone dedicated to destroying the government be in an election on a day that celebrates the failure of someone who tried to destroy the government.
Someone posted this on a different blog I am following...cool story.... I met a girl on the rental car shuttle at the Philadelphia airport this morning. She lives in Canada but is registered to vote in PA. She didn’t want her ballot to get caught up in any Trumpy Americans-abroad bullshit so she flew down last night, cast her vote at 7AM, and was flying back to Canada.
Damn dude, you independently wealthy or something? Work all day for me, which if I’m lucky will be busy enough to keep me off my phone. Then this evening will be beer and an edible and awaiting our collective fate.
I'm supposed to be working between shuttling my kids to/from their jobs. Already got my workout in, have a few more calls throughout the day. My wife is taking one of my daughters to vote after her shift is over, around noon, and I'll be taking my other daughter with me around 5. I am hearing about long lines all over Columbus. Hope that's a good sign!
