🐥 Infos #STVV : 🇮🇹 Christian Lattanzio's position in danger. Sint-Truiden had to clarify the situation of the Italian coach after #KVKSTA with talks scheduled this week. Members of the staff hasn't been contacted yet regarding that matter. Felice Mazzu waiting for the situation… pic.twitter.com/DnPnNFaVho— Sacha Tavolieri (@sachatavolieri) September 2, 2024 Possible 3rd manager for Zahiroleslam in less than two seasons.
No surprise here. STVV neemt afscheid van coach Christian Lattanzio> Meer duiding bij deze beslissing via https://t.co/z1mSj7bKue pic.twitter.com/5z6buz1jGW— STVV (@stvv) September 3, 2024 Lattenzio fired after 6 matches. 3 points out of 18. This job was always going to be a really difficult one this season. It is proving to be.
The Croky Cup Round of 32 Draw has been held. St. Truiden will travel to Lierse SK of the Challenger Pro League.
St Truiden vs OHL 15 Sep 10:00 EST Not on ESPN + New manager for St Truiden. I would assume that Zahiroleslam gets the start, but who knows.
Has an assist in a 2-1 win vs. OH Leuven. Finishes with a 7.3 on FotMob. I read the Wikipedia page of the new manager and it says this Mazzù has built a reputation for improving the status of smaller clubs, earning a number of promotions with regional sides, before helping Charleroi qualify for the Belgian Pro League title play-offs three times. He is also known for spotting and nurturing young talented players, such as Victor Osimhen, Paul Onuachu, Kaoru Mitoma, Deniz Undav and Dante Vanzeir. Seems like they got a good manager, particularly for Kahveh.
Mazzù is a well respected manager in Belgium. The knock against him is that he is good at developing talent, but not good at managing them when they get "big". I am not sure how fair this is as he generally does not get those types of jobs. Clubs often look to him to save them when they have little talent and less money. Think like some of the managers that are always hired when an EPL club looks to try and avoid relegation. Could they manage at a larger, more successful club? Possibly, but they usually are not given those clubs to manage.
Beerschot vs St. Truiden 21 Sep 10:00 EST Not on ESPN + Beerschot has been terrible this season. This is a great chance for St. Truiden to pick up points, and for Zahiroleslam to get on the score sheet.
Cercle Brugge vs St. Truiden 29 Sep 13:15 EST Not on ESPN + Zahiroleslam should get the start as normal. Brugge on short rest for this one.
Highlights are up. Makes a great run at 1:22. Textbook play to show how an active forward can draw defenders and create space.
St. Truiden vs Gent 6 Oct 13:15 EST Not on ESPN + Should start, vs a Gent team that is coming off a 4-2 loss to Chelsea.
Game ends 1-1. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets benched next game. On FotMob and all of the rating sites suggest he had a decent game but he made some really bad errors. Missed a golden chance in the first half and in the second half he made some selfish decisions back to back and then got subbed out a few minutes later.
