I agree with what you said but this I don't agree. I think it's even more inconceivable to support an archrival than to support any other team playing against them. I rooted for Bayern, and most of the Hammers/Spurs/Gunners fans I knew did the same. Club football is different from national team football.
Good point. But most Suwon fans and anti-"패륜" fans (I hate this term) didn't just root for Guangzhou victory because of their rivalry with Seoul, they flat out claimed that a Seoul loss was good for the K-League. "K리그 발전을 위하여 패륜을 격파해라" ^ Sh*t like this was everywhere a week before the finals 1st leg, be it Facebook, netizen cafes or fansites. Who are they to say what's good for the league? The Grand Bleu just screams dictatorship and "we're better fans than you" every time they make their presence known. Ugh.
pfft don't be a bandwagoner. Support Daejeon and you can experience all the thrills of nail-biting relegation/promotion action year after year. I wouldn't call myself much of a Daejeon supporter (I was born, grew up in Seoul before moving to Toronto), but I stay in Daejeon whenever I'm in Korea and catch a few of their games & online whenever a stream is available.
Kwon Young-jin, Kim Young-woo, Ha Sung-min...very refreshing lineup! Kwon Young-jin is actually quite small for a CB (176cm) lets see how he deals with Dejan. (Unless he starts at RB...which seems unlikely)
Dejan with the hat trick. 15 goals now. 4-0 Seoul. Jeonbuk's defense and Choi Eun-Sung's reaction priceless.
I'm not a Seoul fan, but as a die-hard Molina fan, it's good to hear he's back to scoring goals again.
Suwon, Soccer Capital of Korea Largest fan base. Biggest support. Has the history and trophies that underline the best. POSCO (or its president) might have built the Steelers out of passion in the 70's, but Samsung created the Bluewings out of ambition. One of the few 'Classic sides to have won all there is to win. Many great K-League Classic players have donned the blue. (in no particular order) Lee Woon-Jae, Ko Jong-Soo, Seo Jung-Won, Sasa Drakulic, Nadson, Denis, Kim Doo-Hyun, Kim Jin-Woo, Choi Sung-Yong, Park Kun-Ha, Lee Byung-Keun, Kim Dae-Eui, Song Chong-Gug, Kim Nam-Il, Lee Kwan-Woo, Baek Ji-Hoon, Mato Neretljak, Kwak Hee-Ju, Edu, Cho Byung-Kuk, etc That diehard attitude of the fans. "Love 'em or hate 'em, but you must respect 'em! Coz, the Bluewings will keep on flyin' coz They'll be chantin' n' screamin'! They'll be whistlin' and singin'! Frente Tricolor!" Stability. The K-League Classic is infamous for its coaching merry-go-round, but not Suwon. Since its league debut in 1996, the Bluewings have had only four (including the current) coaches. The past three coaches have all won silverware. What other Korean team holds the distinction of having beaten FC Barcelona? A (sojued up) Zoran Urumov's lone freekick howler sent a stupefied look over the Barca players and coaches that night especially Ronaldinho. Nalssendori's Smart Soccer Go watch it.
Seongnam Ilhwa's last ever home game will be free for all (except the VIP sections). Will feature Shin Tae-yong, Yoo Sang-chul, Lee Woon-jae and the likes. TBS live Saturday 14:00 http://esifc.com/news/board_view.php?type=2&b_table=notice&idx=248
Ilhwa sold their franchise. The team will remain in Seongnam last I checked, but with (most likely) less financial backing and muscle. Possibly, a new name, mascot, logo.
