Guys lets be serious here right now. Juve is right now unquestionably the best team on earth. The whole team at the moment is solid down to every single player. But my question is how long can we last. How long can we go unbeaten. Is it a matter or time or can we take CL and serie a and coppa italia. IF not what can we win.
My preference is to just let the team do the talking and not get too big of a head and write stuff that could just be thrown back in my face later on down the road. But I guess that's life experience talking. Juve got off to a good start last season as well, and it call came crumbling down in a spate of injuries during the most critical weeks of the season in February. Now I'm not saying the same thing will happen this year because I believe the team has more depth and some critical new talents. But you just never know in this game. My big fear is that Juventus - having started training a month earlier than everybody but Inter - will run out of legs down the stretch. The benefits of that early start are being felt now. The penalty could come later. Nevertheless, the Scudetto certainly seems like a real possibility. Europe is too much of a lottery to ever predict. And the Coppa, well, I couldn't care less if Juventus wins it or not.
Right. There are at least 5 teams that would beg to differ. And if Nedved were to lose form again, like he did for the second half of last year, I still think Juve's form goes with him.
already ?? what planet are you living ? Juve team are not young enough to prolong their winning stride too long.
He only "lost form" because he was saving himself for the Euros (especially once it was evident that Juve's season was lost). Zidane used to get that syndrome as well.
Capello's title-winning sides are well-versed in the practice of winning as many games as possible in the early stages of a league season in order to weather the inevitable end-of-season weariness -- a classical example would be AS Roma 2000-01. I think if they manage another four or five victories between now and the winter break, they will be very hard to catch.
And Those 5 would be? ARSENAL, hmm terrific in England up until this week, but horrific in Europe! CHELSEA, only just starting to find form in England after a spell where no striker could find goals in a league where just about anyone can find a goal! BARCELONA, this side is very very beatable, they will rain goals on minnows but they haven't faced any big side yet apart from Milan and they lost. INTER MILAN, playing great attacking football but leaking way too many goals and have no winning mentality too many draws. I don't want to say that JUVE will win everything but it is absurd to say that at least based on form up to this point they deserve the recognition as the best team in EUROPE (wud say world but don'tget much football outside Europe). Sadly that counts for nothing but show and tell, i wanna see trophies then we will speak of best team on EARTH! P.S. Pavel Nedved has been struggling of late in serie A but Alessandro Del Piero and Mauro Camoranesi have steped up their game, and now with a real team mentality, i do believe we can do wel even if Nedved struggles, but if we are to be great we need all hands on deck and Nedved is integral to this.
Hold that imagination till the end of the season, then we can tell who is the best in Europe. It's too early now to say who is best . Look at arsenal, they had a long unbeaten run and just after 1 lose, they suddenly have problems with their mentality. The same situation would happen to Juve if they don't win 2 consecutive matches. btw, how come there's no place for AC Milan, your main rival for the title, on your list ??
They're undefeated in Europe. How's that horrific? I'm sure they'll qualify for the next round. Only just starting to find form? What more do you want? Chelsea have allowed a grand total of 4(!!!!) goals in all competition, and we've played approximately 15 games already. On top of that, we've only lost one. And that's with our most expensive striker out. They hit the bar twice against Milan at the San Siro, and lost by one goal. Inter's not a team I'd choose. And it has nothing to do with a winning mentality, but with a porous defense. That was my point. You beat an Israeli side by one goal. And you haven't played a good SerieA side yet (no, Roma does not count). Way, waaaaau too early. My opinions on del Piero and Camoranesi are well known at this point, I think.
While perhaps true, he's also not getting any younger. I think Juve relies on Nedved for so much that missing him is incredibly difficult to overcome. I'm watching the Chievo game now, and everything goes through Nedved.
Right now, Juve is the best team in europe. I don't know how you can argue that. They have played 12 games in the CL and Serie A, winning 11 and drawing 1. They have conceded just 2 goals so far in their first 12 games. They never look spectacular but that is just Capello tactics. He just knows how to win games. And that's all that matters at the end of the season.
They have undoubtedly the EASIEST group in the UCL first stage yet they look like a creme de la creme of POO-Mongers. If they don;t qualify topof that group they should be taken out to pasture and SHOT! Even a die hard Arsenal fan must agree they are easily the quality of the group and it must worry them they aren't looking at all good. Beat PSV at home, no less, on an unfortuante own goal. Could not hold the lead versus both Rosenborg anf twice Panathanaikos! They were winning, but it could hardly be called anything like they're form. I am believer in this Chelsea team because top to bottom they ooze quality and with Lampard and Terry particularly going great guns they are a team to be feared. Now in the last two games they really looked the part of world beaters (have looked that way in UCL all the way!) True, true but i just get the feeling Barca are easily beatable by any team with a bit of class since they lack a true ball winner in midfield. I hate to admit it but Adriano will outscore most teams singlehandlly. Inter Milan look weak at back granted but with Adriano and Stankovic both early candidates for Serie A all star team 2004-2005 and Christian Vieri, Andy Van Der Meyde, Juan Veron and Esteban Cambiasso looking ever closer to top form! I could argue the same thing about Chelsea too, other than Man Utd at home but then again Portsmouth did too right? but i won't because unlike you i realise that winning is winning, and from all accounts the result was never in doubt was just unfortunate not to win by more, but then again i suppose beating Bayern Munich also counts for nothing because we only scored once! Couldn't care less for YOUR opinions on Del Piero and Camoranesi. All i ask is wha do you think of their current form and if you aren't impressed well, maybe u shouldn't be a football fan go pick up on figureskating!
Sorry, but to state that 7 weeks into the season is ludicrously premature. On what are we judging? On "current" form, its Chelsea. On form of first six weeks, its Arsenal. On 7 weeks - Barca. On 8 weeks Juve. Once they lose (as they will) we'll be ready to annoint someone else. To say they're definitely the best is foolish.
I wouldn't say it's ludicrous or foolish. Those are emotional judgements. I would suggest that it might be more accurate to state that Juve is one of the best teams in Europe right now. As noted, cases can be made for either Juve, Barca or Chelsea 8 weeks into our Serie A season.
I'm basing this on the entire season so far. And imo saying another club has performed better than Juve is foolish. The stats back this up: http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/nov1d.html
Juventus leads by five points in Italian league http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=ap-eurordp&prov=ap&type=lgns
I like juve but thats also like posting an english football based link claiming arsenal are the best team right now.
The EPL has always been inferior to Serie A. I am a bit of a Chelsea fan, but I don't think it could be said either way that Juve is better than Chelsea or vice versa. Chelsea have at least gotten their scoring form. If/when Chelsea has their strikers up to par, they probably are the best team in the world, at least on paper. I get the feeling that AC Milan will be back near the top of Italy and Europe very soon though.
If only we had statistics to check statements like that......oh wait, we do. And they disagree with you.
