It can't be just me, but it seems that every Juve game this year where Collina is arbitro has resulted in humiliation on the scoresheet and a Montero send-off. While the Italian press is typically quick to subscribe to the conspiracy theory, Collina is one of those rare persons above that kind of speculation. Still, if Juve had a symbolic, mystical, totem icon (or scapegoat!) to place the blame this year for all their shortcomings, what would it be? A Collina effigy? Del Piero? Montero? The entire back four? Lippi? Moggi? This year I think there'd have to be multiple winners. They have shown great "teamwork" in their ability to disappoint. But at least I can say that we're not Inter.
I have to agree with your assertion that Collina played a crucial role in yesterday's showdown with the Nerazzuri. The penalty he granted to the home side was rather soft, and Paolo Montero should have never received that red card. However, I have to admit that some of Marcello Lippi's selection decisions contributed to Juve's undoing, namely keeping young Maresca on the bench and substituting the Bianconeri's sole ray of light, Fabrizio Miccoli. You get this unsettling feeling that the players appear to have lost faith in Lippi's ability. Lippi himself looks to have lost his trademark nonchalance and sense of confidence. I actually think that an extended break would do him a great deal of good. It is pretty much anyone's guess what will happen over the summer months.
PAOLO MONTERO He has played the WORST ABSOLUTE WORST football ever. He's been sent off in so many big games and is just a liablitity. Think of the bad this season and not too far from it is MONTERO. Deportivo knocking Juve out, Montero passing to Pandiani. Juve 0 - Roma 4. Montero concedes penalty then gets marching orders. Inter 1 - Juve 3. Montero marching orders. Sensing a pattern? Juve 3 - Real 1. Last year in UCL, Buffon saves penalty kick from Figo conceded by none other than MONTERO. But with said LIPPI cannot go blameless. He continually plays him. I would pay someone to take Montero off my hands, he begs Montero to wreak more havoc.
This is incorrect because in the game at the Delle Alpi the one who scored your consilation goal was none other that Montero. Oh how soon we forget just last year and the year before that Montero and Ferrara were one of the most rock solid defensive duo in Serie A In my opinion there isnt much wrong with Juve they are at the same point level that won them the Scudetto last year so it's not like they are not getting the points If anything the defence might be a little ageing but Lippi and the directors tried to remedy that by bringing in Leggrotaglie and he has some good games and some bad ones but it is his first season with Juve give him a bit of time. I think the real problem is the rigidity of your directors and refusing to field Davids when you had him. Replacing him with Appiah (what genius thought that one up) and then blatantly icing him out of the team and loaning him out to Barca. Just look what he has none for Barca since he has been there the team has not lost a Liga game. Coincedence? I think not
Strangely enough, I can't recall any games where they self-imploded wearing their pink kits. Those may well be a good luck charm for them.
Bad luck eh? That doesn't really do a great service to your team now does it? Meaning that all those previously obtained Scudetto's were achieved by the charm of a rabbits foot rather than deserved victory from inspiring football? Here's a better answer: Juve is an ageing team that has simply lacked quality in certain areas of the pitch and has overall been outplayed by classier teams. How does that sound?
