Let me say to start with I am sick to death with the attitude of commentators to Italian teams. If we defend for a even a second we are playing negative. Ok that said it was an entertaining game to watch. Real never got to dominate though Figo caused problems down his side all night. My worlds most hated player Goofey scores the first goal from a deflected challenge. Trez scores on the stroke of halftime from a deflected Del Piero shot. Otherwise niether Trez or Del Piero looked to dangerous. Nedved was nowhere near his usual effectiveness. Ferrara picks up a Yellow as does Iuliano to both miss the next game. Incidently we made 12 fouls and got 5 yellow cards, Real make 14 fouls and never come close... is it possible all our friggin tackles are damned fouls? Anyway the game is decided by a Carlos goal scored with no less than 3 players offside and the linesman calling it but being over ruled.... This just sucks, how can 3 (possibily 4) players all in scoring possitions be called passive? Buffon had to watch them all as well as the ball? Total Crap..... Buffon by the way was a Superman... worth every cent... Made a number of brilliant saves... Meanwhile we continue to not make our forward thrusts count... 1-2 down going into the next leg is obviously not the end of the world but 1-1 was the proper result and I can't help but feel bitter. I hope we cream them on the return game, we need to win by more than a goal, since I doubt we can keep them scoreless.
¡Hala Madrid, Hala Madrid! Los Merengues defeated Juventus, Ronaldo El Fenómeno the super striker was injuried by a Juve´s player, they tried also to injury Figo, tricky players , but the White Power finally wins, and again after their clash in 1998 when Real Madrid defeated Juventus and got the Champions League cup! Zizou made a master-plays during the game, Figo also has many chances to score, Helguera and Hierro made a good defense, Makelele, Roberto Carlos, Portillo, they were Los Galácticos. Real Madrid is winning suffered, sweating, but they are winning.
I know Edgar Davids will make a difference next game, hopefully the Scudduto will be squirled away in the juve trophy case buy this time next week. davids will possibly be playing his last big match for juve ( i hope not ) ,and will want to go out bigtime.
I thought our Defense looked great today. We kept a very potent offense to only 2 home goals, while we managed one of our own. Buffon was absolutely amazing. I think it is amazing that nobody earned a second yellow in the game. There were quite a few late tackles by our side. I think maybe some of them came as a result from the wet field, but still. Things to look forward to: Figo won't have the time he had when Davids comes back, and... hopefully, by the end of the next game, we shall see if Juventus will own both Serie A and the Champions League.
It was an entertaining game. I agree with everything Zebra said - especially the foul/yellow card ratio. Ridiculous. I'm somewhat disappointed in the result because Juve could've achieved better. Still, if you'd have asked if 2-1 would be okay from the first leg - yes, I would be happy with having an away goal. I just have this sinking feeling, however ...... I remember thinking this last year .... that whenever Real needs a goal - REALLY NEEDS it - they manage to get it, somehow. So I'm just very skeptical that Juve can outscore them even at home. I hate to say it, but 1-0 seems very unlikely against this team, and I dread the thought of getting into some sort of highscoring shoot out a la Old Trafford. My last comment - WTF was up with Camaronesi - he obviously had the wrong studs on. He couldn't keep his feet for @$#^ and it almost cost the team dearly. Change your friggin' shoes man!
Ah I see you made it Sue... must have killed you to stay away from the board not to see results... lol Actually I missed anyone being here... it was kind of wierd.. Re Camoranesi: I am suprised Lippi didn't let him play from the start... he could have put the pressure back on Carlos to force him to defend.. We could have used his attacking abilities on that side. having said that he was woeful when he came on yes.... Perhaps Lippi knew something we didn't... I know we CAN do it... am I confident??? *shrugs*
i was on my way to overseas and missed this game and i was dying. as i opened up my stashes of articles in anticipation, i had a sickening feeling when it said juve had lost. but as i read on, i was relieved that the scoreline was 2-1, "the best possible defeat," in lippi's words. juve seemed to have controlled much of the second half. with davids hounding zidane (and figo) and montero coming in, i hope real would suffer greatly in their attack while the defense stays solid. i guess nedved will play much better at home and trez regain his match form. i can only hope and cheer on but i see that we now have a pretty good chance in advancing to the final. back to the glory days for juve!
