Huge game on Wednesday against powerhouse Juventus FC in Turin. Juventus lost at the weekend to Lazio, and are currently a few points behind top spot in Serie A. Hopefully Sporting can take advantage and get a result in Turin.
Juventus shit the bed big time over the weekend with the gifted penalty in the final seconds. Hopefully morale is down and Sporting can surprise.
I could've sworn they have some injuries and suspension too for this game. Let's get 3 points. I we do, biggest win in years for this club.
Pjanic is out I believe, injured. Higuain was potentially to be suspened for flipping off the fans in Barcelona, which likely would've kept him out of both games against us, but UEFA decided against it.
Really? I thought he was definitely suspended :S Dybala was rested over the weekend and only subbed on in the 2nd half because they were losing. He's definitely the star of the team although there are many good players we have to contend with.
Sporting winning 2-0 vs Juventus in the UEFA Youth League. Rafael Leão (who featured in the Cup game last week) with both goals. P.S. great name for a Sporting player
1-1 at HT, Pjanic with a free kick goal after a foul just outside the area. Need to stay focused on defense and hopefully Doumbia could come on in the 2nd half to exploit the counter.
Sporting with a good start to the 2nd half. Midfield is doing well - probably dominating possession in the half so far but when Juve get close to the area they seem to get through a little too easily. Sporting players slipping a lot though... I wonder what that's about.
Now we scored but disallowed for no clear reason. Coates didn't complain though so I imagine he must have pushed someone or did they think he was offside?? It was handball by Juve too. Bizarre.
Our high pressure is continuing to work. Getting a ton of steals in midfield. And keeping the ball on their side of the field. Juve is really struggling to get the ball out. Buffon almost coughed up the ball to Bost.
Juve close. It's a good thing we are mostly keeping them on their half b/c when they get close they always look dangerous. I don't see Sporting keeping them from scoring. We need to score one ourselves soon.
Allegri is pacing, frustrated. Juve can't build out of their half without losing the ball. But we need to make this domination count on the scoresheet.
Doesn't sound like Gelson had a good game again. He's so much worse this year. Palinha I can only assume to try and dominate the midfield, William pushes up to provide better ball possession. Coentrao gonna come off for Jonathan.
I'd have a better picture of whats going if the radio commentary wasn't 80% Benfica and 20% Sporting...
