A celebration thread! It has been a long wait. It has been frustrating at times. But when you win it, it is so sweet.
After several weeks of saying "The thing that goes on the shirt", I can finally say it. Scudetto, bitches!!!
WOW i am lost for words....what an epic season. There was definitely frustrations but we finished on top deservingly. UNDEFEATED! now bring on the coppa final
I am from Philadelphia. You always believe that anything is possible. It was something about this team. There was something magical. It was the stadium. It was the star on the godawful pink shirts. I had a feeling that we would be contending with Milan because I didn't think that anyone else was all that good in the league. I felt if we could keep pace with Milan, then we could compete for the title. Even when things got tough this year, and we had draw-itis, I still believed. After these last 6 years, if you stopped believing that this team would come back from how devastated they were, then you were missing something special.

How about a tremendous hand for these first time Champions: Giorgio Chiellini Simone Pepe "Il Principe" Claudio Marchisio Paolo De Ceglie Mirko Vucinic Eljero Elia Fabio Quagliarella Simone Padoin Emanuele Giaccherini Marcelo Estigarribia Marco Storari Alessandro Matri Luca Marrone Each played a part in some way. Congrats boys on making a dream come true!!
Roster and the number of league titles they've won: Gigi Buffon - 5 (All with Juventus) Giorgio Chiellini - 2 Martin Caceres - 2 (Won La Liga with Barcelona) Fabio Grosso - 3 ("Won" one with Interstronzi, and one with Lyon) Simone Pepe - 1 Claudio Marchisio - 1 Alessandro Del Piero - 8 (All with Juventus) Paolo De Ceglie - 1 Alex Manninger - 2 (Won Premier League with Arsenal) Mirko Vucinic - 1 Andrea Barzagli - 2 (Won Bundesliga with Wolfsburg) Eljero Elia - 1 Fabio Quagliarella - 1 Leonardo Bonucci - 1 (His Wikipedia page says that he "won" a title in 2006 with Interstronzi, but we all know that's bullshit) Simone Padoin - 1 Andrea Pirlo - 3 (Won two with Milan) Arturo Vidal - 4 (He won two Aperturas and one Clausura with Colo-Colo in Chile) Marco Borriello - 2 (Won one with Milan) Emanuele Giaccherini - 1 Stephan Lichtsteiner - 2 (Won Swiss League with Grasshopper Zurich) Milos Krasic - 3 (Won Russian Premier League twice with CSKA Moscow) Marcelo Estigarribia - 1 Marco Storari - 1 Alessandro Matri - 1 Luca Marrone - 1
The 3-3 result at Napoli was when I started thinking this team could make a run. The destruction of Napoli in late March early April is when I thought they would win. Ssssssssssssiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
Here's how next week will go: The game will be played. We'll most likely see a lineup featuring Del Piero, Marrone, Giaccherini, Storari, and maybe Elia, but we'll see our full backline out there because we still have a perfect record to keep. After the game is over, they'll bring out the players one by one, and ADP will come out last. They'll receive their medals at the podium, and then ADP will get the trophy, and then they'll shoot champagne on each other on the field, and there won't be a dry eye in the house. Everything should be broadcast on TV and ESPN3. All that stuff was shown last year by FSC and ESPN3.
You were right about Buffon. Del Piero does only have 8 domestic titles: 95, 97, 98, 02, 03, 05, 06, 12. I only included top flight titles, but if you want me to include the Serie B title, I can.
I went onto the Juve site (http://www.juventus.com/juve/en/club/Trofei/Scudetti/). Chiellini was on the 2005-2006 roster. So it is his second on the pitch.
I do have a couple of other questions, too: Will our players who were sent out on loan be recalled to receive medals? I believe Milan did that last year. Also, do Pazienza and Iaquinta get a medal because they started out this season with us?
Bianconeri reaction following Scudetto triumphMay 7, 2012Share on facebook_likeBuffon “On the evening that Juventus Stadium was unveiled I said: “I belong to this club. It’s a club which has made history and we must honour it”. The next day I said: “We’ll win the Scudetto this year”.Barzagli“We’re absolutely delighted. The title race was between us and Milan, but I think it’s a deserved Scudetto victory.”Bonucci“It’s wonderful. We’ve demonstrated our desire by winning a Scudetto in the true Juventus way. We’ve shown with great performances - such as the ones against Inter, Milan and Napoli - that we deserve to win Scudetto number thirty.” Chiellini“When you concede very few goals it’s down to everyone. We’ll celebrate tonight, but we want to end the season unbeaten and win the Coppa Italia.”Marchisio“I’ve been waiting for this Scudetto since I broke into the first team. Both the players and fans have suffered over the past two years. The manager has perhaps been the most important aspect. He’s given us identity and the desire to win.”Pirlo“It’s a deserved title that we wanted from the start of the year. We’ve played well and we’ll enjoy the moment. I came here to win and I’ve managed to do so.”Borriello“It’s all down to the group. The team that clearly deserved this Scudetto came out on top.”Matri“It’s a strange and wonderful feeling. None of us would have expected this at the start of the season and we’ve gradually gained awareness and believe. It’s a deserved title.”Del Piero“We’re celebrating a Scudetto success that we’ve all fully deserved. What happened tonight repays me the many difficult years, I’m mainly thinking about 2006... I remember everything from that year. And that’s also why today’s Scudetto has a special taste. It’s a great story and I’m happy to have been part of it.”Quagliarella“It’s my first Scudetto and it’s an indescribable joy. Being unbeaten makes you feel truly invincible. My first thought is for my family. They know how much I suffered after my knee injury and appreciate how important this victory is to me.”
What happened to Giorgio was hilarious. At first, I think he was enjoying it. Then, he had that scared look on his face. Tanti bacci he received.
