My wife got tickets to the game for my birthday and I went with her and our two children ages 6 and 4. We sat front row, right over the dugout on the sideline. It was a great experience! The fans were great and the come from behind win was fantastic. I can't wait to go again. When the Timbers Army let off the smoke bomb after the first goal, my 4 year old son was quite concerned. He kept telling me, "Where there's smoke there's fire Dad." However, even he was screaming at the top of his lungs as we put in two more to win the game. We all had a great time and will do it again as soon as we can. I would encourage anyone who can to attend these games, as the soccer was great, tickets are very affordable, and the atmosphere is exciting! Scumby P.S. What was up with that ref? It was like he swallowed his whistle every time a Timber player got fouled. I thought you were supposed to get no calls on the road, not at home.
I agree, the game was great! Milwaukee gave the Timbers a real run for their money. Much credit to their team coming off a suprising loss to Seattle the day before. The atmosphere was excellent too! The Timbers Army was good and loud! It seems to me that just as I begin thinking that the A-League refs can't get any worse, then they do! Oh, well...it was still a great game! Go Timbers!!!
It hurts to talk. My voice is going to be even worse tomorrow. What a game! Once again we really got the benefit of playing a team that had played the previous night. Alan Gordon is a monster. I didn't really see the first goal that Milwaukee scored but the second goal was a comedy of errors. Saunders thought that his defender was going to make the clearance and was caught completely off guard when the defender let the ball continue through. Ugly, ugly stuff. After the game, the Mulwaukee coach actually came over to the pub and told us how impressed he was with the shed. He said something about how the players on the bench were upset about one of our chants about Larkin and he told them not to worry about what we were yelling at the keeper and to focus on the game. I can't wait for Roberto's tales from the shed!
K-head, our schedule has sucked the past two season so let us bask in the moment and let us overlook the A-league scheduling advantages. Gordon was simply unreal in the last 25 minutes. Six goals in his first five professional games. The guy is not long for this league. Timbers Army was as insane as I have seen it in four years. Smoke bombs, massive chants, and mayhem. There was a Minnesota Thunder fan in attendance and he was stunned by the size and noise. Good stuff. Here are the Tales from the Shed for those who care and for those who don't: http://www.soccercityusa.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=timbers;action=display;num=1085901516
No argument here. I notice you guys have a couple of back to back matches coming up so it all evens out. However I won't bitch when you guys point out that your losses were due to back to back games.
I think Kentavos probably meant surprising in the sense it took place in the 90th minute and not surprising that Seattle won at home. Milwaukee has really had tough luck this season with three losses at the end of tight games. According to their coach they have only been able to practice 10 times. Makes you wonder if fielding an indoor/outdoor team is really feasible.
Yeah, I say everyone should make hay against Milwaukee while they can. They will be a playoff contender by season's end.
Sorry Chicago, sorry D.C. after last night's match the Timbers Army has now taken the reigns as the loudest and most badass supporters in the United States.
No one should overlook the fact that we had a blast even when the team sucked. It's great to be winning for sure, and it's definetely bringing more attention- but the Army is there through thick and thin. The lean times made us stronger. Cheers.
Gotta keep up with Hermes. Hey, this Wednesday at Grant H.S. is Shedhead pickup soccer, 6 pm. Gonna try to make it this week. Also, Friday pickup 11:30am at Portland Indoor is $6. Gonna be there too.
