Today from La Gazzetta dello Sport: The problem is that a gap of €2M still remains between Dortmund's asking price (€10M) and Parma's offer (€8M). In the coming days, Parma's managing director Cherubini and his team will have to work hard to convince the Germans, who appear to be firm in their position. https://www.gazzetta.it/Calciomerca...-le-notizie-di-oggi-4-agosto-la-diretta.shtml
hear me out, Djordje was sent to Toronto for 8 mil, Parma has not closed on Gio, Rapids are the island of misfit toys for USMNT players
What are Ze Germans hoping to achieve? Have Gio sit on their bench while they spend $2.5 million on his salary? Then he walks.. Who is going to come in and pay their 10M Euro asking price? $9.26 million seems fair enough for the broken toy that is 2025 Gio Reyna to me.
There's no indication of that. The only reporting we have seen for awhile is Parma. No real indication Gio is interested in a return to MLS. MLS window closes August 21st. Tick-tock.
Speaking of lovable misfits, @m vann - Are you hearing anything (about Reyna ==> Colorado)? Or Reyna ==> Anywhere Else FC?
The only thing coming out of Colorado is the shocking news that Djordie Mihailovic wants out and is reportedly headed to Toronto FC in the biggest internal deal in MLS history. $8M + $1M + sell-on %. Rapids fans - including myself - are f***ing pissed. 20G / 21A is 53 matches down the toilet. Getting him to CO was the best move in club history. Now trading him might be the biggest, dumbest move this club has made in its history and that's saying a lot considering how inept the front office is. As for Reyna.... not be an exact like for like for Djordie but pretty close but no... I've heard nothing about Reyna and CO.
Yeah, it seems strange that Dortmund would be playing chicken with Parma here. They've offered pretty close to what you want (which is also at the high end of what I, not a professional front office employee, thought Reyna could possibly fetch), and the clock is really ticking. Otherwise you're getting a $0 transfer payment AND paying his multimillion dollar salary for another year that you don't want to play him. Like, what is holding out gonna get you? Another half million? Maybe? If you're lucky? While not selling nets you a negative $2.5M guaranteed.
They are also screwing over Gio, who needs time to try and get integrated with Parma prior to the season. Regardless of however the last couple of years have went, Gio has been with BVB for a long time, and had some big moments for them. He has a history there. In any event, it would be in Dortmund's best interest to have Gio succeed at Parma, even with no future sell on clauses, just the optics alone of developing and selling off another successful top five payer are to their benefit.
It's business. Seems obvious there's a deal here to get done, but both teams taking risks with the unknown - Parma could find someone else, another team (rich Championship type) could knock on BVB's door. Tick-tock, tick-tock
https://gianlucadimarzio.com/parma-sorensen-midtjyelland-news/ Parma continues to move on the market about three weeks after the first day of Serie A 2025/2026, to strengthen the squad available to Carlos Cuesta. Specifically, according to Luca Bendoni, the Gialloblù are interested in Oliver Sørensen, a midfielder born in 2002 at Midtjylland. The Danish club evaluates the player around 9 million euros in bonuses included, with Parma then deciding whether to insist.
Looks like an attack oriented CM. Hopefully it's a shot across the bow for Dortmund to get a deal done for Gio.
It may have to do with not wanting to appearing as being serious about their valuations in the transfermarket. Clubs see that Dortmund cave 20% for Reyna, they might expect same for their transfer deal. Dortmund has a calculation in their head including the cost of Gio staying on as depth. But, I could see Dortmund coming down in price for a deal in last days of transfer window just to show there is pain in the deal for those insisting on a lower valuation than theirs.
Dortmund have sold Watjen but are still negotiating with Chelsea for Chuk. They may be waiting for the Chuk transfer to finalize (most press outlets are saying they're mostly done, and we should expect an announcement in the coming days) before they let Gio go. Otherwise, they're starting to look a little thin in terms of attack-minded CMs.
https://www.parmalive.com/mercato/s...tra-le-parti-ma-operazione-in-stand-by-238527 The Gazzetta di Parma today on newsstands returns to the operation that could lead Giovanni Reyna to wear the crusader shirt. The 2002 American class at the moment is not an absolute priority for Parma, with Cuesta moving to a 3-5-2 and therefore it would take more of a half-quarter than a quarterback. Borussia Dortmund does not go down from the request for 10 million, Parma has gone up to 8 and therefore a small touch-up to the offer would be enough to close the operation, perhaps by inserting some bonuses. But the desire to close this operation remains to be seen: a minimum distance that is not known if and when it will be filled. Reyna is on standby for the moment, we'll see in the next few days if the decisive Crusader lunge will arrive.
Inter, Sebastiano Esposito in chiusura al Parma. Le news#SkySport #SkyCalciomercato https://t.co/0UnlUEoINY— skysport (@SkySport) August 6, 2025 Parma finalizing deal for striker/attacking midfielder Sebastiano Esposito. 4 million euros plus 50% on the future resale. Expected closure in the next few hours.
Just offer 9 and get on with it. This much haggling over such a minimal difference is clown behavior.
