Chipotle is just bad... in my opinion. I ate it once or twice, but my stomach could not handle it. I couldn't even finish half of it. The meat is poor quality too... and the other ingredients aren't great. I've been to real Mexican restaurants... my favorite dish is actually carna asada... served with salad and rice on the side, and corn tortillas. And also like tacos al pastor... http://www.latidodemexico.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Tacos-al-Pastor.jpg
It was my favorite Tabasco sauce until I tried the jalapeno one. Now I'm torn. Neither one are hot enough, though. I always need to add cayenne pepper. I doubt most people confuse Chipotle with real Mexican food, or even tex-mex, which is what most people confuse with real Mexican food. Chipotle and tex-mex are two entirely different cravings for me. Chipotle is its own thing, just like pizza rolls are their own thing.
I've not been to Chipotle. I've eaten chipotle, and gotten very sick from it, but in moderation, it can help a mole negro be its best. I miss Mad Mex, which they had in Pennsylvania. Such good buffalo chicken wraps!
a chipotle starts out as a jalapeno pepper, selected by the grower, usually, for the purpose of roasting/smoking/drying to become a chipotle, rather than being used fresh.
