So much for MLS getting him. http://www2.insidenova.com/sports/2...ns-four-year-contract-pro-soccer--ar-1730811/
I know little about the rules here, but I thought if you were under 18 you couldn't be signed in a country you don't have citizenship in. So is this a non-professional developmental contract?
Yes, I read the article. I suppose my question was vague, but what I'm trying to ask is what sort of contract is a foreign player under 18 allowed to sign? Obviously he can't be paid until he's 18, but since the rumor is he signed a 4 year deal, that would take him past 18. Is he allowed to sign a deal which already includes financial terms in it, just that they are backloaded? Seems to me like that would be a violation of the spirit of the rule. And if they are no financial terms, then what the heck good is a contract for anyway?
The four year contract starts the day he turns 18. That's almost always how these things work. Until then, he'll remain in the US. He might go on training stints with the team that signed him, but he'll only be allowed there for short periods while on a tourist visa.
We need to accept that some of the elite of the elite American youth prospects are gonna get opportunities abroad that MLS just can't match.
I wonder if it's semantics? It's true he hasn't actually signed because he has to wait until he's 18....
734906650704945153 is not a valid tweet id A UK work permit seems highly unlikely unless he's got a secret EU passport we don't know about. Interesting nonetheless.
