Any long-time fans might remember striker Junior Agogo, who played for the Rapids in 2000 and the first half of 2001 before being traded to San Jose. Junior was a fan favorite while here and after leaving MLS he spent a lot of time in England before finishing his career in Egypt, Cyprus, and Scotland. In January of 2015 Junior had a stroke. Recently he was interviewed as part of the BBC4 documentary ‘Speechless’ where he discussed the aphasia he’s dealt with since the stroke and how the difficulty in communicating has made him anxious and less outgoing. If you remember watching him play, being outgoing was never a difficulty for him. During the interview he mentioned that he doesn’t hear from any of his former teammates, specifically from his other Ghanaian national team teammates. Some clips from the documentary can be found in the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJd-SCGz7cM Upon hearing this news, Centennial 38 reached out and made contact with Junior to extend our well-wishes. We are also working with the Rapids to put together a care package to send to him in London that will let him know that his fans in Colorado are thinking about him as he copes with his circumstances. We’d like to give fans a chance to send him messages of support. Please leave your message to him here and we’ll print them out and include them with the care package.
Junior, it was a treat watching you in Denver. Thanks for bringing you passion and skills to the Rapids!
Junior, good luck in dealing with your current challenges. I have good memories of watching you play here in Colorado!
Junior, we remember your passion, persistence, and grace on the pitch. You are in our prayers for a full recovery. Know that you are remembered and that we are are pulling for you.
One of my earliest Rapids' memories is you racing past the defense to slot a goal. Best wishes, Junior.
Thanks for the fond memories at Spartan Stadium from a San Jose fan. Kudos to your Colorado fans for putting this together
Junior, at a Rapids match in 2000, my Ghanaian son-in-law Kofi handed my 1-year old granddaughter Dzifah over the rail to you on the field after the game, and you held her up high and gave her a kiss. Thanks for bringing your joy in the game to all of us in Colorado and best wishes!
Just found this and hope I am not too late. Junior you were my absolute favorite and I always got a hug from you before each game., I am the English lady that used to say "Get me a goal Junior". I will never forget the time you came up behind me in downtown Denver on way to watching a game at one of the restaurants, you scared the daylights out of me! Will always have a soft spot in my heart for you, know that you are loved by all the supporters that knew you, you are special.
C38 sent a care package last week that Junior received over the weekend. It included a personalized jersey with his name and number from the Rapids, a C38 scarf from the group, and a printout of all the well-wishes posted here and on social media when we posted we were putting the package together. Junior sent his thanks for the package last night to me to pass on to everyone.
Very sad news. I was still quite young when he played for us, but have never forgotten him. May he rest in peace, and may his family find their peace through this trialing time..

We’re saddened to hear about the passing of former #Rapids96 striker Junior Agogo. Our thoughts go out to Junior’s friends and family. https://t.co/pmyxM2w2AO— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) August 22, 2019

The one thing we can not ever complain about is Richard Fleming. Hope we can keep him around for a long time to come.
