The game is coming up soon and is only a short drive or flight from Chicago. There are already some of us that are going and want to make sure that people know about the game. Plus the night before (July 5) Columbus is playing Dallas. Another excuse to go and yell at Kreis and the rest of them.

Bump this up to the top.

Chance to see the USMNT against Paraguay in Columbus. And a chance to yell at the Dallas Burn the night before. There is also a rumor of very cheap flights out of Midway (I had heard $25 or so).

Is there going to be a unified front against Dallas? As in, are we wearing a particular color or something?

Actually the way the playoffs are set up you would want every west team to beat every east team except the fire.

True, but it's still Dallas. As Cougar Jim said: We should hope for a scoreless draw and that a lot of players get hacked up in between.

This sounds more and more tempting...is there a place folks are going to go to see SJ-Chicago?

It's be something just to see the look on Jason's face...

"You thought you were rid of me? Ahahahahaha!"

Maybe see if I can get kicked out of two stadiums against Dallas this year. :p

I doubt it, only because of the geniuses patrolling the North End.

People are saying that there is a bar near the stadium to catch the Chi/SJ game afterward.

It should be a good weekend and people should seriously consider it.

Me and jjayg are flying from O'Hare Saturday morning. You might want to check to see if you can find that $25 flights out of Midway.

    CityIce,

I think the bar being talked about is the Rose and Thistle on the West Side of the OSU campus. It's near the stadium in that its about 5 miles away, not that it is in walking distance.

Yeah, that place is awesome (great beer, good food, AWESOME gut-obliterating concoctions called Scotch Eggs) but I'm not sure if that's the place I'd want to watch the Fire game if it was me. It's essentially the V-Army clubhouse. Good fun when it's nonpartisan, but probably not the best place to watch the Fire game.

Maybe a B-dubs or that place we went after US-Mexico downtown?

    Liam,

Rose & Thistle supposedly will be welcoming all fans during the weekend.

I might go for Sunday only. Have a chance to work on 4th and 5th. (woohoo!) Depends on what jgoodwin wants to do.

Kryptonite, who seems to be organizing the festivities in Cbus, says that the R&T will be the preferred pub this weekend. In the past it has been the V-army hangout.
