It feels like this is gonna be 16 games and 16 pts this season. If we can't beat Tulsa and Tacoma at home, ugh. Nothing like last night to put me in a glass-half-empty kind of mood.
1-0 over the meth-sucking scoundrels from Reno. Turns out match conditioning is actually a thing. 1868 was 10-man-defensive for the final 10 minutes of regular time. Still too many uncontested runs up the middle of the field given away, though. We got lucky that kid shot his directly at our GK in the second half.
I watched the match on ESPN2. That is the first time I had this opportunity to watch on ESPN. Thought The Quails played well, but were lucky not to give a goal, especially from that run by Emilio Ycaza. If he would have passed the rock to Corey Hertzog on the left, who made an awesome run, I am sure Reno would have scored. Also the ref sucked. There was a play where Villareal was taken down in the box & the ref waived play on. The replays showed it was the incorrect decision. I am liking what I am seeing from Sac-Town so far this season.
I liked that we were the stronger team, and still pressing, the last 20 minutes. After the Tulsa and Tacoma games, that was an improvement. I also liked that our subs this game brought energy onto the field. The subs for the Tacoma game were not as sucessful in adding something to the game. Too bad it's a shortened season, because I think we are deep. We can put a quality side on the field with very different lineups. Would have been inteesting to see it play out during a regular season.
54th minute vs Galaxy II. Wasting a ridiculous number of chances for the second game in a row. If the finishing doesn't improve, it will come back to bite us.
I've not been the least bit impressed with Belmar so far. Perhaps he just needs to get some more minutes under his belt. It's a weird season. Flow and momentum was just like the Tacoma game.
IIRC, each team plays 12 games within its group (4 games each against 3 opponents) and 4 games outside its group.
4 games against each group opponent. 4 x 3 = 12 games against group opponents. 4 games against opponents outside the group, to make a total of 16.
I had a feeling the failure to re-sign Enevoldsen was going to bite us in the ass. I think Formella was given Bonomo's locker and all the bad juju contained within.
Was staring at the ESPN+ streaming screen for a while waiting for tonight's game before I saw this. Bummer. https://www.sacrepublicfc.com/news_article/show/1115457
Thanks, Galactofilth... Can confirm that 11 #LAGalaxy II players have tested positive for #COVID19. Team source adds that there are currently no positive tests with the first team, which was tested on both Monday and Wednesday. How can anyone be surprised? No bubble for D2 and Galaxy are from a heavily populated area. It's a physical sport. No masks. Eleven? Not a shocker. Hope our guys are healthy.
