Julian subbed on in the 77th minute against Holstein Kiel today. Furth surrendered the winning goal in the 84th.

Fürth and Venezia going for the rare double-relegation treat.

Sounds like an own goal, but the club gives him credit for the goal:

21.' Yeaaaa! There's the opening hit for the #Kleeblatt . After a free kick by Julian Green, the Karlsruhe team clear the ball into their own goal.

The moment I saw they lost 2-1 after the other team went down to 10 and scored an own goal early I knew Julian had played 90.

A story in three parts: Julian subs on in the 58th, in a scoreless match:

    Then scores the opening goal:

    And Furth cruises to victory

Green is a player that looks much better as a sub.

Green gets the start against Paderborn. They trail 2-0 and the stats show him having a dreadful match so far.

Finishes 2-1 in favor of Furth, with Green being subbed out as a stoppage time time-waster. Back to back wins have put their cushion from the relegation zone at a comfortable level - might not need more than a couple of points the rest of the way, now.

Disappointing…. I googled “Elfmeter”. A penalty. I thought it would mean the smallest dude on the pitch scored a header. Damn.

Green has quietly put together a nice season with 6 goals and 4 assists in 27 matches after a pretty lackluster 21/22 season. With one year left on his contract does he stay or go? I’d personally love to see him come to MLS. I don’t know if he’d make a Timothy Tillman-like impact but I bet he could be a nice addition to a team.

26 played games, only 17 were starts.

His shot on target % is good (36%) but his problems are the same as always: easily pushed off the ball, and too slow to get there. He's won 13 tackles the entire season.

I totally get that. But I’ve caught a couple of Furth games on ESPN+ and each time he’s looked quite good and been one of the better players on the pitch. No doubt he has some limitations, though. Still a solid player that would help quite a few MLS if they gave him a call.

For sure. I was thinking NT. Green is a playmaker, the guy who sees a play and delivers a good ball. We could use one, but his limitations are too big for the international game.

He has a good soccer brain, though.
