That's what I get for not actually watching a single Fire game.

However, Mihailovic ended up with 8 starts (Soccerway numbers). Torres could easily end with 8 or more starts for Lokeren by the end of the season.

Depends. Peter Maes is making all kinds of noise about being active in the transfer window. We will see

The problem with Torres, is that he is not aggressive enough offensively. Maybe as a CDM he's not supposed to be but it would make him a more valuable player. I really hate talking about his skills actually, because he hasn't been given enough playing time for me to properly evaluate him.

After speaking with Omid Namazi recently, that is exactly what he said both the US youth coaches as well as coaches at Lokeren are working with Torres about. They want to see more forward passes out of him and less diagonal and backpasses. He is making progress because he has a good passing range but he needs to be more proactive and not look for the safe pass all the time

He is a very good ball winner and very good on the defensive side

I don't think that's quite true. When they switched to the back 5, Adams just made a lot more sense for the team there than Alex Muyl did. Adams at RWB and Davis/Felipe at CM is way better for the Red Bulls than Felipe/Adams at CM and Muyl at RWB.

If Adams sticks around, I think you'll see them sign a new right back and play Adams in the middle more often next year, because I imagine they'll want to get him into a more influential position.

If that does happen, he has to improve his passing about 500%

It’s not his inability to make a great pass sometimes. It’s his inability to make the average pass all the time. It was a problem with the u20s and it definitely was a problem against Portugal

    I agree.

I think both he and Acosta have better futures at fullback. Too loose with the ball to be trusted in the middle at higher levels.

I don't agree with that assessment of his passing. But we'll see how it goes next year - he still doesn't turn 19 til February.

Anyway, back to Juan Torres. Sorry for the thread derail.

Played with the U21s and scored a goal.

Not on the first team roster for today's game vs KRC Genk

Is he a pure #8 or a tweener?

Yeah, I've mentioned it before in other threads. He just needs to be more aggressive offensively.
