Back with our U18s for a camp in Spain: https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/clu...8-mnt-roster-for-friendlies-in-spain_aid42826 Midfielders (7): Christian Cappis (FC Dallas; Katy, Texas), Jose Carranza (North Carolina FC; Manassas, Va.), Jonathan Gonzalez (C.F. Monterrey; Santa Rosa, Calif.), Paxton Pomykal (FC Dallas; Highland Village, Texas), Brandon Servania (Wake Forest; Birmingham, Ala.), Juan Pablo Torres (Sporting Lokoren; Lilburn, Ga.), Sam Vines (Charlotte Independence; Charlotte, N.C.)
I just realized that Torres was part of the Georgia United program. I did some research and found the roster from their U-15/16 team in 2015-16. They sent some players to the U-17/18 level, but here were some of their age eligible players for the U-15/16 age group. Carleton, Goslin, Asensio, Torres, Crain, Jones were all part of the program that year born in a two year window. That will go down as one of the most talented non-MLS (can make that non-FCD, NYRB, LAG, now Atlanta United) groups in DA history. And to think that was from an otherwise pretty irrelevant academy.
I think this is the "squad" for tomorrows game. Only can select 18 players though (22 listed), so we'll see if he makes the 18 tomorrow. He didn't make it last week, although I assume going away on international duty with the U-18's didn't help him out in that regard. Selectie voor #LokChaOvermeire, Michel, Rassoul, Benchaib, Torres, Söder, Miric, Kehli, De Sutter, De Ridder, Enoh. (2/2)— KSC Lokeren - Temse (@KSCLokeren) October 20, 2017
Hasn't really done anything impressive but he did block a shot. He's completed most of his passes but he could be a bit better defensively.
2nd half. Torres with nice ball control to keep the ball and pass to another player. Looks pretty comfortable out there.
He's playing a little better in the 2nd half. Lokeren are playing down a man but Juan has been doing his part defensively.
Wow, pressured into giving the ball away in midfield then gets lucky to not called for what looked like a foul in the box.
Stream became unwatchable, so I couldn't watch the last 20 mins of the game. Overall he did well. He is more of a defensive player, not as great on the ball as Jonathan but still decent. If he stays in Belgium and continues to improve, I can see him playing for a better team in a couple of years.
an 18 year old starter in a euro first division is definitely decent....all of a sudden a bunch of us teens seem to be breaking through in Europe.... hasn't really happened much before the past couple of years so this is good!
Really interested in how he did today, it's unfortunate that the stream qualities and coverage of these average Belgian teams is so poor. He's really flying under the radar, isn't he?
Things went downhill for the team after they went down a man. In the 70 minutes I saw of him, Juan made 2 mistakes at most. He is comfortable on the ball and decent defensively. Mostly made short passes, so I'm not sure about his range. I'm gonna try to watch more of him against better opponents.
