I never thought I would ever see a Colombian score a brace for Juventus and is probably their most valuable player these last few months... ...And I still am not trusting him to start for Colombia. Maybe he can play RW but I do not want to see him anywhere near RB. Rueda may be tempted to put him back there though. But for me personally he just does not play the same for Colombia as he does at Juve and it could be detrimental in regards to our back line issues instead of an improvement.
This is my hope. And he did help us with a nice assist against Venezuela. But let's face it, the golazo he scored yesterday he NEVER scores for Colombia from outside the box. (In yellow he sends that to the moon or directly to the keeper.) It is nice he got the penalty but South American teams and refs do not fall for his bag of tricks as much as the Europeans do for some reason.
It's def an issue because then he can get frustrated/in his own head about the foul calls. Again - coaching.
The refereeing was horrible but Juve being Juve they got the most terrible calls in their favor. Don't get me wrong, the calls were bad for both teams, but Juve was able to work the referee better (2 PKs in their favor and possibly a PK against not called), despite the horrible second yellow given to Bentancur... Also, there's a slight touch by the defender that seems to trick Handanovic, because the shot was not specially well placed. All and all, I agree that Cuadrado has been Juve's MVP in 2021.
I loved his first goal in yellow in Pekerman 1st game it was like a full team 20 touch then goal. It was fking amazing. Sadly the team never played that way again but it was awesome
Great call! I’m so glad you shared this. Although it wasn’t in a World Cup, I would compare this to the Cambiasso 2006 World Cup goal. I loved how MacTorres and Aldo were in that lineup and how the players created space for one another. Those two were so underrated for Pekerman’s early successes. Somewhere between this goal and the 2018 Poland game, we lost that ability to pass into open space - saddens me very much as to what the 2018 cycle should have been.
carlos Sanchez cough cough haha I mean the first 10 games under perkerman were magic. We played like a kid playing fifa on easy. then he just got kind of cowardly. Hated him after the brazil game in 2014. I mean obviously better than who replaced him but we should have gotten a diff coach since 2014. A lot of wasted time and talent. Hope Rueda is able to do what he did in 2006 cycle but this time with better players. we beat Uruguay 5-0 with fking Tessor Moreno and Pacheco being our best players on our roster
It was a nice goal. But for Colombia in a similar situation he would probably shoot it straight at the keeper.
