You can argue that space would likely not open up against tougher competition, but few players on earth can thread the ball through 5 players like that.
    I agree. Call him up.

Great to see him finally called up again.

Hope and pray he stays healthy and plays well. Would be a dream to see him go out there against Argentina and help the team and be a difference maker for 3 points.
(Sorry River fans who post around here. A man can dream.)

Its definitely a departure from the kind of norm-coreish look he had adopted letting his hair grow out at the end of the season!

Maybe he is gonna get back on the mic soon.

Ha! I assumed that was his stylist! Good for him that he's integrating socially over there.

Interesting news coming out of China.

So the league has been on a pause and will resume on July 15th. Because of the quarantine protocols, which is apparently 14 days now not 21, the league is planning to accomodate their players who go on international duties for qualifiers.

So, they're proposing that the league pauses again in mid August and resumes things in early December.

Good and bad news for Juanfer. The positive, obviously, is that he'll be available. The negative is that he will be out of competition. And, for a guy like Juanfer more than anybody else, that might make him someone who doesn't get called anyways...

He should go to Nacional and train with them.

I personally would call him even if he has not played much in a couple years. He just adds something we sorely lack.

But Rueda may just stick with Cardona and hope he gets better form.
That seems like a more likely option unfortunately.

This will be a great test of Rueda's integrity on his 'Youve got to be 500%' policy. Ironically, I he hope calls Quintero even if he hasn't played.

Quintero has shown before that he trains himself up for tournaments and if you had him training for a few weeks before the qualifiers and training in Colombia before the Oct games I think it could work.

That said, Rueda could just as easily punish Quintero for not showing up for the Copa and qualifiers. His brand of la rosca is as yet an enigma.

Btw - Juanfer looks really thin to me in the pics I've seen from him in China so maybe less access to chicharon is getting him in better shape anyway?

I mean, China is incredibly diverse culturally (so many different and great styles of food) - I don't know about the city where he is based but I'd be huge if I could have quality Chinese all the time. I say that as a kid that grew up in a Chinatown (Flushing) - I eat like crazy whenever I go back home.

If Quintero really wants to play he should beg push as hard as possible for a loan move to be in game shape if they do pause after August. Any half decent league and the club gets some money out of it and he stays fit, especially with the James shitshow Quintero has a golden opportunity to step up.

MLS won't pay like China must be for him to have accepted the move there.

Unless a team uses their designated player slot to pay him like Vela or whatever. Which is still not as much as China but we are talking about a short loan here.

Mexico could be the more ideal option though.

True but they are all about fitness in Mexico...

I think MLS would be a great fit for his style and he'd look great in the league and be kept in shape for the NT and have steady income and access to all his artistic pursuits too. Like if he came to the Red Bulls, I'd become a season ticket holder again!

Beckham and Miami would probably pony up more of the money and more incentives.
