Quintero has no work ethic. proven and over proved in the many teams he has been in europe. not even top teams. River is good enough for him

Technically not true, if he has no work ethic how did he become an idol at River?

You think he never shows up to practice, drives in fancy cars, sings some reggaeton at karaoke bars and just shows up only for matches?

Yeah i agree...the guy have improved a lot of.

He left europe at his 23.....so “proven and over proved“ in a player of that age is ridiculous.

Yes, he had worked his butt off to get where he was prior to injury.
In large part due to his manager but also it comes from within to get better and be one of the best in South America.

In River plate there has been a lot of times where he has not been the undisputed starting player. He has been through a good amount of teams in europe, mid to low table teams with little to show for.

Colombian players are diva's and lack work ethic a lot of times. Not all of them but a good amount for sure. James is the best example.

Tactical decisions are not always made due to lack of work ethic. JuanFer's lack of stamina was more the issue and that is more physiological than effort.
It was getting better though and he was becoming a clear important starter in most important matches. But that is unfortunately down the tubes again after this injury.
He is going to have to work extra hard again just to come back at the level he was playing at.

Not only that, but Gallardo takes less bs than most other coaches. He's tough on his players and his training sessions are said to be about as intense as they get. If Quintero was slacking off with poor work ethic, he wouldn't have lasted a month under el muneco, regardless of the technical skill he possesses

He was arguably our best player in the World Cup. He was one of River's best players when they won the Libertadores and was crucial in their victory in Madrid on a big stage.
The guy has major guts and provides sublime creativity and set piece service that is second to none.

That being said, what concerns me is that I have no idea how Queiroz will utilize him within his system when he does get healthy.. He may not fit in.

We all know quintero has had a mostly disappointing career

But few players have done so well with the NT in such short periods as him. He was good on both wcs and pretty much has been good in his games in the seleccion

Do we still have to defend Quintero? Before he went to River yeah I understand the critics but are way past that.

I used to believe he had the skills to become the best Colombian ever, but unfortunately he didn't have the discipline. Now he is matured a lot. I hope this injury didn't affect him much.

He looks healthy in that pic. I thought the Injury would revert him back to chubby but this is a good sign

Dude it’s been a year.... of that he wasn’t a starter for most of it. Pekerman gave him
Confidence and he had a good World Cup.... but best player hardly. That cup was saved by Mina who masked how bad we played minus the Poland game.

Then he had a few good months after with River and won them the cup in Madrid.

Before that not much just a prospect that got sold as the next James. He has a lot to prove still.

You are too hard on Quintero. You could see James' career like that too. One good WC, a good season at RMA, next couple of season garbage, one good season at Bayern, second again garbage. A lucky goal against Uruguay made him a star but thats it.

LOL please just stop. This whole post is ridiculous, Mina was very good and scored huge goals, but outside of those headers from set pieces Quintero effected the game constantly when he played and was hugely influential.

What you don't understand is that Quintero's ceiling as a player is best Colombian ever, James, Rincon, El Pibe, Quintero maybe Asprilla are all guys who had unreal ability. The form he reached leading up to the World Cup and through to his injury was world class in many areas, not many players in the WORLD could do the things he did. If he comes back and gets there again and gets his fitness to its peak, he could play in the best teams in the world, James, Duvan, Quintero and maybe Barrios are the only players that we have that can reach that level at this current moment.
