I will break "feyenoordsoccerfan"s monopoly on Jozy threads and hope that leads to better luck in the scoring department. AZ has a Cup game this Thursday at FC Dordrecht, an Eerste Divisie team. If Jozy scores, he will reach the coveted "YA Goalscorers' Quad," having scored in league, continental, and international play this season. http://www.soccerway.com/matches/20...-beker/bvo-fc-dordrecht/stichting-az/1215348/
So, I hope to be otherwise occupied on Thursday, but if I unfortunately am not, am I likely to be able to walk up to the box office at the stadium and buy a ticket? Is the game televised in the Netherlands? One final question for our friends in this beautiful country: when we analyze soccer in English, we sometimes speak of the "attacking third", the part of the field closest to your opponent's goal. Is there an equivalent phrase in Dutch?
Jozy in cup fight? thursday 18:45 CET FC DORDRECHT - AZ Coming thursday yet another match coming up. Is it possible to keep track of it for the YA fans, this relentless string of matches Still debating the last one when Yozi is already on the pitch for a new kick off!!
Re: Jozy in cup fight? thursday 18:45 CET FC DORDRECHT - AZ Beat you to it! https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1839335
#1 - Dordrecht usually fill about 60% of their 4000-seat stadium for league games, but may come out a bit more for an Eredivisie leader in the cup. You probably should call the club front office and ask, they may do you a favor if you tell them how you're traveling and want to see a game (maybe leave out the whole coming to see AZ part). #2 - The TV match-ups come out tomorrow. They will show 1-2 games on Thursday. EDIT: Looking at Thursday's schedule, it'll probably be either AZ or F-word on TV. #3 - I think that is the same everywhere.
a stream not that good though http://www.firstrowsports.tv/watch/88438/1/watch-dordrecht-vs-az-alkmaar.html
AZ hasn't been bossing the game like you would expect given the gulf in class. Chances for both sides have been few and neither side has had many forays into the final third (phrase of the day). AZ a bit fortunate to grab the goal just before half. Jozy hasn't been lively, but that is due in part to the game getting bogged down in midfield. Hopefully Dordrecht pushes forward in the second half and this opens up some space for the AZ forwards.
Start of the second half, Jozy finally with a chance to dribble out on the wing sends a good pass to the top of the box. The pass is received but leads to a turnover by the AZ player. Ensuing counterattack leads to a header that's wide for Dordrecht.
Maher takes a free kick which is saved and spilled in front of goal. Klavan taps in the rebound for AZ's second goal.
Jozy almost puts an AZ player through with a one timed pass and it ends up being his last action of the match as he is subbed out for Fernando Lewis in the 65th. AZ lead 2-0.
AZ starts doing a lot of back passes and suddenly forgets how to defend and Dordrecht pulls 2 back. 2-2 in the 73'
I'm starting to wonder what AZ's plus/minus is with him on the field and without him on the field. It seems like they run wild with him and shut off when he's not in there. Somehow.
Not counting the Dutch Cup matches, I have 11-10 without, 26-4 with. This was just a quick run thru. I may have missed a goal or two, but the numbers are pretty telling.
They've only played 2 Cup games, the stats in which are 2-0 with and 5-4 without. Jozy didn't feature in the first one (I think that's when he discovered an injury in warm-up). By the way, AZ have needed extra time to win both Cup games. Total: 16-14 without, 28-4 with. Conclusion: AZ score a lot of goals.
