probably off topic but is this usual in most of Europe and South America as well? I'm sure in Scandinavia and England but Portugal or Poland as well? Also I would guess it was much different say 30-40 years ago? when the player had less power in negotiation?

Also this: Canadi: "Ein sehr interessanter Spieler" http://www.spox.com/at/sport/fussba...kel/rapid-wien-trainingsgast-joshua-gatt.html That headline says he's a "very interesting player."
From Molde to Rapid would be a nice jump, although it's hard finding games on TV or online from the Austrian Bundesliga. It almost seems too much. Won't believe it until it happens.
I pay $5/month for LAOLA1.tv which has, among a few football leagues and other sports, Austrian Bundesliga in HD.
Depends on the country and the club, obviously. It's actually more common on the continent than in the UK,and more common in small-town clubs than in big cities (the town is small, it hasn't got a lot going on, often doesn't have much or even anything to recommend it, so it matters more to the town and so the local money men get roped in). If you're looking for a great warts-and-all portrait of a small-town Serie B team in the late 1990s, Joe McGinnis (of The Selling of the President and Fatal Vision fame) was a big soccer fan and spent a year with Castel Di Sangro charting their struggle against relegation in The Miracle of Castel di Sangro: A Tale of Passion and Folly in the Heart of Italy. For this team, there was only one decent reataurant in the little town, so the local bigwig booked a big table every day at dinner -time for out-of-town players to eat properly in the evening It's really excellent and costs buttons on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Miracle-Castel-Sangro-Passion-Folly/dp/0767905997
Hi folks. I've deleted (as off topic) posts about a particular poster. Please try to keep that stuff out of the thread. Thanks.
The Austrian BuLi is #15 in Europe, and Rapid Wienn is one of their regular Top 2 teams, making Europa regularly. The Tippeligaen is #24 & Molde hasn't been to the Champions/Europa since 2014 and are unlikely to do better this year. Truth be told, Rapid is not so hot this season either.
It's quite an upgrade, reason why I don't see it happening. Josh has not shown enough, injuries, recovery, and all. He'll be lucky to land another job in Norway with a smaller club.

i don't get it. how is he able to train for any other clubs while still under contract with Molde? did I miss something where he was let go from the club?
Rapid Vienna is Andi Herzog's old club, btw. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a string or two pulled.
Breaking news, folks: Joshua Gatt expected to sign with Minnesota United FC. https://t.co/SOvEgTixSG #MNUFC— Megan Ryan (@theothermegryan) February 11, 2017
As a Minnesota supporter, I'm interested to see what his role with the team would be. Our wing depth is strong (Molino, Ibarra, Venegas, Kadri), but rightback is by far our weakest position. Could we see him play there? I can't imagine he'd be any worse than Jermaine Taylor...
I think Molde tried him there a couple of times. They also tried him at CAM I think. EDIT: In 2011: http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/josh-gatt-transfers-to-molde-fk.1632092/page-30#post-24450967
