Still out, but he should be back in a couple weeks. He has only been training in sneakers and will be switching to boots soon.

Wasn't he used up front at times last season? Will that continue or will he be back on the left hand side? (Unless of course, he never played up front, in which case disregard all this).

He was used up front a number of times`as a recessed striker to run at the defense. Kaiserslautern picked up a number of strikers over the summer. He will move back to the left side.

Thanks for the info, and any updates on his performances would definitely be welcome. He's one of the few players in Canada's player pool with the confidence to run at defenders, so hopefully he can stay fit and get himself back in the reckoning for Canada.

Josh Simpson will play today in a Kaiserslautern Reserve match. First game since he broke his foot in May.

Played his second game back with the reserve team again. Was subbed out in the 89th minute of an away 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund II.

He is training with the first team, but no word when he will suit up.

Looks like he played against Ledgerwood if I'm reading that article correctly. Good to see him back in the first team.

He got standing ovations when he entered the pitch.
Lautern coach Milan Sasic said in an interview that Josh worked hard during the last weeks but also that he is a kind of a "sunnyboy" that needs some pressure ;) He will be on the bench against Wehen/Wiesbaden.

    ...
"Josh hat sich das erarbeitet. Ich wollte ihn dafür vor dieser wunderbaren Kulisse belohnen. Körperlich ist er natürlich noch nicht so weit", sagt Sasic: "Josh ist ein Sonnyboy. Ihn muss man unter Druck setzen." Sprich: Milan Sasic wendet Zuckerbrot und Peitsche an. In Wiesbaden sollte der Kanadier wieder auf der Bank sitzen. (Allgemeine Zeitung, Mainz)

What's that? Sounds as if the coach thinks he soft?

not exactly. it means that he is a funny and likeable guy but also that he is lazy sometimes.

I see it more as happy-go-lucky, not really lazy.

Kaiserlautern beat Hansa Rostock yesterday 6:0
Josh came in in the second half and scored twice (4:0, 5:0).
a perfect day for the red devils.
