Sorry if my post wasn't clear. We were scouting Ukraine, and hoping Scally would file a scouting report on Ukraine - a possible US group opponent in Qatar.

We don't need to scout Scally, I might add - we know he's already world class (for his age/stage). Please continue his development, thank you.

Any season where The Goats finish in European competitions is a weak season for the Bundesliga.

Scally needs a new coach, Gladbach and Hütter „agreed to terminate the contract“. I guess the club is working on that for a few weeks now.

For some reason Farke looks very familiar.

Farke actually does coach a pretty style and is good at integrating youth into sides. I'm curious how he will do away from Norwich.

Well, calls for his inclusion on the USMNT have to be a bit quieter after today. Against a good team like Uruguay he struggled. Hopefully another season of experience with Gladbach will get him to the level he'll need to be at come November.

Uruguay is not a good team and Joe is playing way better teams on a daily basis in Bundesliga. It's lack of experience with timezone traveling and not yet integrated in a new team with new coach and new tactics. Veteran players can overcome such issues, young players can't. It showed but it only will get better from here.

If you follow US boards the whole travel and youth thing is a blatant excuse. Funny stuff.

Uruguay is a good team. Maybe not elite but they are real good. This Germany would have their hands full with them,

Joe played like Joe. Inexperienced, over commits, super aggressive to his detriment. He will learn.

Uruguay is very good compared to who we normally play.

    Example: Next up is Grenada.

Uruguay is not a good team? Take a look at the squad they've called up for this window.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uruguay_national_football_team#Current_squad

It's studded with winners of La Liga, Serie A, Portugese Primera, Liberatadores winners CL finalists, etc. Put this squad in La Liga for next season and they'd be serious challengers.

This squad is integrating some of the next generation with the Godins, Cavanis and Suarezs who will bow out after Qatar and has a new coach. If it's not a vintage side, that's only in comparison to that generation at their peak, but it's still a lot better than any team the US has played the last 12 months.

Scally just looked too amped up. Some of the positional stuff I think was due to lack of communication with Long (while still not good the spacing was much better in 2nd half) but he was just too aggressive (to the point of wrecklessness) with his challenges to where he got taken out of the plays.

I'm short he looked like a young player getting extended minutes against a veteran team.

We have agree to disagree then. Valverde is a squaddie with Real and other than that no high profile players from my pov. All these Getafe and Benfica players are proven professionals, I give you that.

Uruguay is a very close knit team that has a style drilled into them early on.
Their relative success, considering country size has a lot to with it being more like a club team then a Nat team. They are feisty, disciplined, hard to break down and have the ability to score against anyone. It makes them a very difficult opponent to play against for anyone.

No, they are not elite but they are a very good TEAM. Your point that they are not a good team wouldn’t hold water with any semi reasonable person anywhere quite honestly.

Uruguay is definitely a good team.

I feel like the travel works for the short windows we had during qualifying.

This is a bit different given it's a longer camp that started about a week after the season ended. I'm sure Scally for instance was already in the US for a few days before heading to Cincinnati.

Valverde is 23 years old and made a total of 46 appearances for the Champions League winners this year. And of those 46 games, he started 29 of them.

And Nunez from Benfica played really well this year in the Champions League and is going to be purchased by a big team for quite a bit of money this summer.
