When you have lost 5 competive games in 4 years and have won the following

    2 Portuguese Super liga titles.

    1 Portuguese Cup

    1 Uefa Championship

    1 European Championship.

And Chelsea is in 1st place. Eat your heart out Sir Alex and Wenger. Jose Mourinho is the best Manager in the World. As we say in Portuguese Grande Mourinho!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the guy is a class act but sometimes can be egotistical and when your playing in a league with not much talent it helps your cause when your winning. yeah they play boring but nobody mentions its mourinho formula he did it with porto now chelsea if he left for roma he probably be winning there.the guy knows what hes doing so do you think he cares what people think nope!

    .

The guy is a genius. A great manager. And, I'm impressed with the CL and UEFA Cup titles. The Superliga? I can manage Porto to a Superliga title if Don Pinto is my president.

But to call him a class act is like calling Britney Spears a virgin. This is all you hear from the guy, "I am great...blah, blah, blah...I am great...blah, blah, blah...I am great...blah, blah, blah...I don't want to sound arrogant, but I am great!"

It's a shame he doesn't lose more enough. Cos this guy's press conferences when he loses are pure comedic gold. He goes from arrogant to a whiny little girl. Just take a look at last year's press conference when he lost to Sporting and Benfica in the Portuguese Cup.

There's definitely a method to the madness. The man knows how to manipulate the media when the team is playing well and how to use them when they play like crap. The whinning he does when they lose is to take pressure off the players and focus the spotlight on himself, the refs, or the way the other team played against them.

Nowadays he is the best manager in the world, isn´t just because he is Portuguese, or was the best manager FC Porto have seen, but simply because he is the best.
In the past i admired great coaches like Trapattoni, Lippi, Cappelo, Hitzfeld and others but in our days there is only one José Mourinho.

I don't want to take anything away from him because he proved himself at Porto. But it is hard not to win with the side that he has at Chelsea. After all he didn't take a team that was in the middle of the table, last year they were top 4.

Tell that to Claudio Ranieri. :D

He couldn't win squat at Chelsea and Valencia (defending La Liga Champs no less) haven't won in 10 games with the "Tinkerman." Money & star players don't guarantee success.

You are quite right, but I would rather have that lineup than lets say the starting lineup for Malmo.

    Well said. :D

Can you believe Mutu is making an appeal? He feels like he was wrongly sacked. Is this guy for real? The guy's too busy snorting blow (or sex enhancements or whatever it was) bottom line, illegal substance. I would've fired his ass too if he worked for me on blow. What a wanker.

I do not why but i have a very bad feeling about tommarow"s game vs Porto for his personal safety. Something does not feel right?

I saw the Chelsea game today. What a team. Mourinho has them playing great football. I can't wait to see them up against Deco and Barca.
Strong game by Ferreira, and Tiago was quite good today -he keeps improving, another reason Mourinho is the best - he gets the max out of his players.

It is true that he by no means took over a poor team, about to be relegated, but I'm quite sure had he been managing Man U., they would be in 1st. Same with Arsenal or any of the Top 5 english clubs. It's not like Chelsea didn't have great players last season, the big difference that took them to the next level to the top, is Mourinho.

You might be getting a bit carried away. You are insinuating that Jose is better or could have managed Man U. better that Sir AF.

    I DON'T Think So......

When Jose builds a Resume like Sir AF then we will call him what he is. Till then lets calm down, and let things progress abit. Keep in Mind, he hasn't won anything at Chelsea yet.

Sir Alex has already won everything there is to win at Man U.

This is Mourinho's first season at the EPL. No one is saying he is SAF yet, but you can't deny that a large part and reason for where Chelsea sits at the moment is because of Mourinho as their manager. My point was that with a talented side like Man U., I believe Mourinho would have had them in 1st place right now. I was not slagging off SAF, just pointing out that Jose in my opinion can take any of the top teams and turn them into the top dog.

Has everyone so quickly forgotten about Arsenal's unbeaten streak? Have you looked at the recent rosters that Man U has had to play with? Both Arsenal and Man U have been plaqued with injuries in the recent past. It is very diffucult to compare the three teams/coaches as the moment.

Anyone can try and buy a championship. Man U has done it many times. I look at the current Arsenal roster and their average age is something like 22. Wenger has demonstrated that he is able to quickly and accurately identify young talent. He has made huge deals for unknown players on what for most is a shoestring budget and has still produced.

Ferguson has won everything there is to win. Mind you money talks, so it is hard to give an accurate account of his abilities.

Mourinho is by no means a slouch. His accomplishments with Porto will become legend, but lets leave it for what it was. Look at Porto now. They have made it through to the round of 16 without him. Look at who they played in the final? Monaco... not exactly powerhouse themselves. Should we not mention Didier Deschamp on the same scale?

When you look at the Champions League you have to take into account the competition the teams also face in their domestic leagues. Every team in the Premiership or Serie A is a tough game. Those players have to play day in and day out. The competition in Portugal or France is merely a walk in the park in comparison.

If you are looking at declaring the best coach based on one competition, I would say Greece's coach Otto Rehhagel has achieved a bigger accomplishment.

Thanks for sharing such a pefect post! I don't agree with all your arguments,
but still, we have the same POV. :)

Mourinho is not the best coach in the Wold. He achieved a lot, more than everyone was expecting, but his he is not the best. He is a leader, ambitious, and has fantastic assistance coaches on his side! Still, he is one of the best for sure.

Regarding CL this year. The main reason FC Porto wan it, was because they had solid Wold Class Players. Period. If Mourinho gets that much credit for winning, I have to say that Dechamps should have far more credit for reaching the final.(Monaco's RB was a lended Porto player. )
Agree but I have another argument. During Porto's 2002/2004 Uefa and CL wins, our National coach Scolari, was not working hard enough with the National team. Porto's 2 year success happens when our Nat team made 0 official games and no serious work on non-official ones. Meanwhile, all european players were trying to give their best to reach Euro 04. Can you believe Porto's Maniche was not an option for Scolari until Euro 04? Maybe the best player on the Euro.

Arsenal's unbeaten track and Euro 04 Greek adventure were the biggest coaching achievements. The best coach this year should be Otto Rehhagel.
