I am glad someone said it.
I think Carrascal should be called up instead of James too.

Why not both? I have already said in other threads but I will give you a summary here.
I think James is more of a distraction than he is an asset right now. We have played most of the 4 year cycle without him and I am not sure he would accept being a role player/ bench player in most matches.
He also has not played in a competitive match since May.

I think Carrascal can play the Cardona role along with JuanFer Quite nicely in October.
James can get a chance later if he is doing well and looks fit in Qatar.

Imo Carrascal is still not ready for the NT... he has been improving and scoring some nice goals, but his overall game throughout the 90 minutes still needs to improve a lot.

Maybe in the future, but at the moment I don’t think he’s worthy of a NT call-up

This has always been my view of him, he has moments of brilliance and then goes long stretches in a game where he is poor and making mistakes. Feel like its a matter of time that he puts the rest together and the talent is there but he needs more polishing.

To me he is in better form than Cardona was in June. And can provide better shots on goal as well.

Yes, his overall game in 90 minutes has to improve but he would not be playing 90 minutes. He would be training with the team and coming on for JuanFer late in matches in my opinion.

Carrascal isnt ready to be starter for colombia....but maybe could help his perfromance start to calling him and receive minutes....

I dont know if carrascall will have future....but im sure james doesnt have.

As benitez said regard james situation....we have to think in lomg term not only in shor term

Yes indeed. We have to look at the big picture and Carrascal can be a part of the future the more confidence he gets at River under Gallardo. He also already has a a little chemistry with JuanFer and Santos Borre who could help him acclimate and integrate to the team.

He played in Ukraine for a couple seasons. Russia is similar at least in weather.
