Back to the Segunda in Spain Loaned to Albacete Balompié ¿Quién no ha comido alguna vez mientras resolvía paneles de @LaRuletaSuerte? 😁Os traemos uno para que lo adivinéis, albacetistas 🤍 pic.twitter.com/6Iw6pIXoOs— Albacete Balompié 🤍 (@AlbaceteBPSAD) July 10, 2025
Friendly against Murcia today, and he started a 2-1 win. Not sure why they're stylizing him as "Jonathan G," but seems cool enough.
Recommend a thread title update for Jonathan: @bungadiri @dark knight @TheFalseNine Jonathan Gomez at Albacete (olf PAOK Thessaloniki)
Wild 4-4 match, with Albacete frustratingly conceding in the 100th minute to miss out on three points. An outrageous 17 corners, 31 shots (11 SoT) for Almeria, so JoGo was very busy. 11 defensive contributions but only 12/14 on passes tells you a little bit on the run of play in the match. Nice to see him start the opener; hopefully a lot more playing time this season than last season in Thessaloniki.
Jogo entering the pitch to start against Racing Santander, looking to improve on their opening day draw.
Gomez goes 90 in a 3-2 loss. Albacete go up 2-1 in the 64th, only to squander the led in 77th and 83rd minute for a Racing Santandar victory. Didn't watch but reads like he was okay as the LB. His 6.0 Fotmob rating seems to be in line with the majority of his team. Based on what I could translate on X.....no directly responsible for any of the goals nor as precise as he should have been with his passes into the final third. Defensive stats... 4 recoveries, 0/1 tackles won, 2/2 duals won, 1/3 aerial battles, and 4 interceptions are okay. Two matches. Two starts, 180 minutes. Hopefully there's more to come from the kid who turns 22 on Labor Day.
Miserable start to the year continues, with a third straight league loss and one point through four matches. Gomez and the defense with low ratings; he came off after 64 minutes trailing 2-0. Ends 4-1. Credited with a chance created and four passes into the final third, but no positive defensive stats to share. Positives - he's the starting LB, and there are three teams on zero points (including Konrad's AD Ceuta).
Incredible stuff out of Albacete today. Sporting Gijon take a 3-0 first half lead. Gomez comes on with the match 3-1 in the 70th minute. They score twice more, and if briefly looks as if Gomez had the matchwinning assist in the 96th minute, but it's deflected out for a corner. But on the corner, there's a VAR review and Albacete get a 99th minute penalty, which is converted. 4-3 win for their second straight league win, hauling themselves up to midtable. A well-earned postmatch celebration.
Not as fun this week - after a red card, Gomez is part of an 82nd minute triple sub seeking to hold onto a 0-0 draw with Cultural Leonesa. Hadn't allowed a shot on goal before going down a man. Unbeaten streak extended to four.
Late sub appearance - 89th minute in a scoreless draw with Ceuta. Came on right after a potential gamewinner for Konrad, who also subbed on, was reversed by VAR, in a rare Spanish second division yankoff.
