Would love him in the fold...but I think his chances of joining the team for Brazil have sailed. Does anybody remember A Mexican player(s) who joined the team after the gold cup without participation and were never really involved but made the final roster for the world cup?

Yea he wasn't on the gold cup squad. So I guess there is still a chance for Jona.

No I actually agree with your overall point. I also think the ship has sailed for Jona.

The roster for the GC isn't out yet though right? Hopefully Jona makes it, we need to see if he has anything to offer.

he's not going to the Gold Cup

there's already a 35 player preliminary roster and Jona is not on it

best thing Jona can do is go to another club where he'll actually get playing time, get called up for any of the friendlies between this fall and next spring, and hope he makes it on the final WC roster

but sadly, he seems content in being a Barca cheerleader

There is an outside chance though right? The preliminary roster isn't set yet.

I'm not thinking he will be called up but you never know.

What makes you say this? The transfer window hasn't even started and, as I and others have said many times (obviously falling on deaf ears), this was his first season as a member of the first team; he took a risk to try and carve a place for himself, it didn't pay off, that's fine. Now if he insists on staying again this summer, then we can criticize, but it's ridiculous that people are still going on and on with this complacency talk.

Thiago is as good as gone. It's a matter of him choosing a team because there's several teams willing to buy out his clause.

I heard his buyout is really really high. He reached the minimum amount of minutes to keep the buyout high in the final game of the season.

I've also heard he didn't reach the amount of minutes. I've also heard it wasn't minutes it was a certain number of games.

I don't think anyone knows shit.

His buyout clause supposedly went down to 15 or 18 million Euros because he didn't play more than 30 league games. Not sure if he reached it or not, but Chelsea, ManU are supposedly going at him hard trying to sign him.

Would be a huge loss for Barca if they let Thiago go.

Good to see he is still supporting El Tri. Come on Chepo, put him on the GC squad at least!

So Luis Enrique was hired by Celta Vigo to manage next season. Hopefully he ends up getting Jona on loan since he's familiar with him from the Barca B years.
