10 possible transfer destinations: Lille, and #CanMNT, forward Jonathan David may potentially be on the move.Where could he end up?@joshuakloke worked with @TheAthleticUK to evaluate ten potential teams ⤵️📚@Ankaman616, @gunnerblog, @JackPittBrooke, @RoshaneSport, @GeorgeCaulkin https://t.co/8Q8qV0JMd6 pic.twitter.com/CrLaXV0xGG— The Athletic Soccer (@TheAthleticSCCR) June 24, 2022 Sub required.
And this particular forum is not tied to NT eligibility. Any American is eligible for discussion. It generates hardly any traffic for a gent scoring at the rate he is in Europe. Seems about 1/3 of the entries are related to "why is he in this forum?"
The traffic on this thread tells you everything you need to know. 5 pages for a player of his quality that has been at Lille for a while. I myself have never understood why people care.?.? He is Canadian... no matter where he was born. But if people want to occasionally discuss him then whatever.
Time for a 6-month check-in: Canada star Jonathan David has the opening goal for Lille! Only Kylian Mbappé and Neymar have scored more in Ligue 1 this season(via @beINSPORTSUSA)pic.twitter.com/z1lRM4DQiT— SI Soccer (@si_soccer) January 2, 2023
Oh, what could have been. We actually already have a de facto Canadians abroad thread in the main US Men forum. It’s pretty annoying that it’s there, if I’m being honest, but I suppose the Canadian posters go there because there’s not enough traffic in their own forum.
It's similar to other players in the past who've had a tie to the US. Yanks Abroad has never been exclusively for USMNT players/potential players. J. David could theoretically have played for us but chose not to. While that makes most of us less interested in him, it doesn't preclude him from "Yank" status for the purpose of this forum. See the first post in this thread.
How long you been using this site? Come on, man! Read the guidebook! (If actually having a shot at playing for the USMNT were any sort of precondition there'd be maybe 40 - 50 players we follow here.)
Hat trick right in Sabbi's face today in a 3-0 win over Le Havre. Second Ligue 1 hat trick for Jonathan.
David keeps rolling - brace in the Conference League as they all but clinch advancement over Sturm Graz with a 3-0 road win.
David with a Champions League brace off the bench for Lille, one on a penalty, as LOSC take down Atletico Madrid 3-1.
A few goals away from being their 2nd top scorer. He could really challenge to be their top scorer if he remains til the end of the season.
Looks like he is moving on after a successful run at Lille: LOSC on X: "5 seasons, 232 matches, 109 goals, 2 trophies, 4 European campaigns: Legend Jona', your name will forever be written in large letters in our Club's Hall of Fame ❤️ https://t.co/OUm0hI0uXe" / X
Lille are missing out on so much but well played to Jonathan. I sure hope he opts for Serie A rather than the Premier League though.
