    Don't we all?

RE: Conway, I've never seen a backup goalie so disliked by his teams fans. Did he moon The Casbah or something?

I think that Conway is just catching some projected anger cuz the Casbah and others loved Cannon and can't imagine Conway filling that void. Halfway through the home opener they will be chanting his name and be stoked that he only let in 2 of 13 shots on goal in the first half. :D

Do not confuse confidence with cockyness. I think he's ready and since the beginning Ive been saying that as long as he gets more pt he can improve. And the D Line has to be good too.

I have always been impressed by Conway's size and mobility. I think he will do fine- I really do not understand why so many of you dislike him.

I will take Conway over Joe "Feet of Concrete" Cannon any day. Why did Joe never get a nat call up? Because his ball handling skills were worse than the 4 year olds who practice in the park near my house.

"Dislike" is strange word to use in this context. It's certainly possible to like someone and still think they're not skilled enough to be an MLS first team goal-keeper. I like Jon Conway just fine, but I'm not convinced he's good enough to be our first team keeper. From what we've seen, which isn't a huge # of games, he's got some weaknesses that'll be exploitable. The main one is that at 6'6", he doesn't get down fast on the low shot. Teams can exploit that. And, as others have said, he doesn't always show soft hands. Perhaps the playing time he's had thus far has made a significant difference in this regard; but at this point I seems fair to think people can wish for us to look for a better player at that position without that equating to disliking Conway. If he's playing, I'll support for dang sure. I feel that same way about several players... I like them as bench players.

I have never had my balls handled by these four year olds, but I hear they have a gentle first touch.

I'd have no problem putting Conway in my list, i'd like to see him at work for 5+ games before i do.

    what KMJvet said.

if Conway was as good as Joe, he would've been playing in front of him. we need a solid keeper more than we need to fill any other position.

The Quakes could have had the 2nd best keeper in the league and he still would have sat on the bench for Cannon.

And if the hight is a liability on low shots, maybe it would be better for the post shots and chips that Cannon could not reach.

This team has plenty of problems. Our roster players have shown a remarkable lack of scoring in preseason.

Conway may get off to a rocky start, but I think he'll be ok. He certainly has better distribution skills than Joe, so that might be a big help.

So for now, I'll support Conway and hope that he's as good a Joe. Unless he shows that he's not up to the challenge he's got my vote.

And let's remember that Jon's had two seasons with the GK Coach that made Joe into the monster keeper that he is.

    GO QUAKES!!
