And if you don't agree then you are an ignorant douchebag and I don't give a crap about your imbecilic opinion, so go kill yourself.
Is this like "buy or sell" on Around the Horn? I'll buy this. Busch is the best. Though Walker's pretty good too.
The look he gave Cancela after saving that PK was classic. I was hoping he was going to give him a back handed pimp slap. Can't wait till the KC game to give him a nice welcome back.
Busch is a good goalie, but Cancela tried to get cute a 2nd time with the PK and it's "Fool me once, shame on you, Fool me twice, shame on me". As I said elsewhere, though, his actions at the whistle didn't exactly preserve Columbus's good name.
Are you kidding? Oh no, he turned around a flipped the bird to a few drunk hardcore fans who had be on his case all game. I love it. It's that kind of moment where you have earned the right to tell everybody "Fcuk you! In your ugly fcuking face! Eat that beotch!" Jon Busch fully deserved to show off a little for single-handedly saving the day. He's even more of a hero for flipping off your group.
"Waaah, waaaah, we abused the crap out of the guy for 90 minutes and then he stole the game from us and flipped us off. WAAAAHH, WAAAAAH, he's a bad man, Mommy" Have NE fans always been this big a bunch of whineyass, excuse- making women and I just didn't notice it? My God, this is terrible.
Are you kidding Bill? Ever heard of the Boston Red Sox? Belly aching, whining, complaining, laying blame on curses, etc. It's what they do best.
I personally don't think that Bush is the best keeper in MLS...he may be the most in form at this point in time...but not the best keeper. After listening to Dwight scream about the pk save I thought he went upper 90 to parry the ball away...but on video Cancella sent a floater to the same spot he did prior...not a routine save...but certainly not true highlight reel material by any means... Good for him flipping off the NE fans...don't know how many remember when Tim "Short Bus" Howard gave us the X-Pac "Suck It" chop after the Crew/Metro US Open Cup match in Crew stadium...it adds to the intensity of the game for everyone involved...
I don't care if someone hits a slow roller right at your feet. Any PK save is huge because it should be a goal every time. I did see the video and although it wasn't highlight reel material it's still a big time save and an even bigger screw up by Cancela. If the Revs miss the playoffs by a point they have him to thank for it!
Is Jonny Walker that much better (he surely isn't in better form) that he gets called up for the backup role for this WC qualifier? Granted Busch shouldn't start before Keller or any of the other guys, but it would have been nice to see him at least warming up in a US kit at his own stadium. I also second whoever said it was a disgrace that Busch wasn't player of the month. Moreno had one very good game (a hat trick against an awful DC team), and besides that he just did what a striker should do, and he gets player of the month. Busch carried this team for a month and turned around our season. At some point people will need to refer to Busch as a great goalkeeper, and not just a good goalkeeper who overcomes his size. Of course by the time they all get around to that we will have known it for years.
Since I was pretty loaded when I started this thread (although I'm sure no one could tell) I'll just add this: Busch has, as the cliche goes, "taken his game to another level" He's more mature, more confident, more sure of himself and more comfortable in his place. It's not all about a linatic hyperactivity any more, although he still has plenty of that - he's getting position, he's making the play and he's just very much in command. If you haevn't seen Jon Busch lately, you haven't seen Jon Busch, and I don't care if Bruce Arena thinks Johnny Walker is better, because he's wrong. Busch may never get the respect (although that dwarf Rimando got some callups IIRC) but I simply would not trade him for any other keeper in MLS. Period, no hesitation.
Not that I am a grammar king as can be told from my typos in every post....but the comma between Period and no hesitation actually implies a pause, or a bit of hesitation. It would have been better to say Period. No hesitation. But I agree with the sentiment entirely.
We all know Jon Busch is having a great season and has come up big for the Crew, but let's not get carried away. He is average MLS GK who was lucky that Cancela made a bonehead decision to try the same chip. You know you're being obvious when the color analyst predicts where your PK is going. Any half-brained person could have saved that shot after seeing the first one go in (of course any half-brained person wouldn't try it twice in the same game).
I have to admit, Busch made several quality saves at Soldier Field. A couple of the shots would have goals against another keeper. I'm not sure about you guys, but I enjoy games between the Fire and crew when both are playing in good form and the games actaully mean something. Good for the rivalry and good for MLS. Go FIRE!!
And any half-brained person would recognize that we're not saying he's great because of one save. Oh wait - that would leave you out, wouldn't it? Imbecile. My respect for NE fans just keeps dropping lower and lower. I'm gonna need to add a sub-basement soon.
Since the theme of the thread is "Busch is a stud," and this isn't the place for Walker praise, I will say that Walker has been absolutely in form, including stuffing a breakaway late in Saturday's game that would have been every bit as big as Busch's save if the rest of the Metros hadn't sucked so much all game. I won't argue who's in "better" form at the moment, since it doesn't really matter, and the point here is how well Busch has played this year. As for Busch's save, it was a piece of mental brilliance. I think that plays like that disprove the theory that a "goalie should always guess." There is time to react to save a poorly-taken PK, just not a well-taken won. Special extra credit for Columbus winning on the road despite getting called for two PKs. It has to be somewhat frustrating that virtually every other starting MLS goalie from last year has gotten a shot with the Nats except Busch. (Onstad's Canadian, but Walker, Brown, Thornton, Rimando, Cannon, Countess as a U-23, Hartman, Meola - everyone's had a turn.) And at the moment, I fear that Ring is right up there with Busch in the "first-time goalie callup" pool, fairly or unfairly.
No need to find it. Anyone who supports Crew gains these traits naturally. It comes from being a part of such a dignified and classy club.
